Surely their fans don't have to pay to get in the amount they've put in over the years.

After the near miss we've just had, I suggest we go easy on our friends down the road. Most of their fans who came on the board offered constructive advice, rather than gloating.

TBF the former Lodgers sold 5 year season tickets a while back, so the figure will be 120 new season tickets, probably.

I wasn't knocking them, hope our fans put up as much as they have, should be more than enough to see us right.

The fact they survived at all is a tribute to the dedication, hard work and sheer guts of their core support. They should be seen as an inspiration to poolies not something to be scoffed at. I'd like to wish them all the best for the coming season. So there!

I miss them. It's ten years since our last league encounter and there are now a growing number of Darlington kids who have never seen a derby game between us and have to rely on their dad's etc to describe the rivalry. Likewise with Poolie kids.
I don't want the rivalry to die. It needs to be revived as soon as possible. Banter between the two sets of fans plays a big part in keeping it alive until the day arrives when it can, once again, take place on the pitch.
Just my opinion, like.

I don't like the new team called Darlington just because I was told not to like the old one. End of.

OK. This old chestnut.

So do you either

a. Want them to be succesful, and get back to our level? And therefore have the momentum to be better than us?

b. want us to drop to there level to revive this make believe rivalry that was never that imprtant.

Because to me, neither option sounds particularly attractive.

To be fair if it wasn't for some very bizarre rules around the nature of their seating, they would probably be playing in the same league as us this season.

Having been to the likes of Maidenhead and Bromley I cant imagine their ground is any worse.

look forward to guisley then. bang it into row D might be a good shout.

All rivalries are make believe. What Newcsatle fan doesnt want sunderland relegated, and relegated again?

They dont want them successful.

On your second point. Its a fare cop.

Darlington weren't the only team denied a play off position. Both Poole and Hungerford were also denied access in the southern league. Apparently, amongst other criteria, there has to be a minimum of 500 seats. According to the Darlington club site, they only have 280. Prior to May 2016, temporary seating was allowed but that was changed to permanent seating at that time.
Any team in the vanarama north/ south with ambitions of promotion should read the appropriate conditions of entry to the national league.

Seen as they now play at an unit for purpose Rugby field the irony isn't lost on me that they used to call the Vic 'The Four Bus shelters'.

Rival supporters do take great joy from seeing their rivals relegated, Mr Colonel. However does that joy exceed the joy of watching your team beat their rivals. March 25th was one of my best days supporting Pools and I'd like to do it again.
That day far outweighed seeing them liquidated. For me anyway.

Just like the irony of you slagging off "jumpers for goalposts" football which you said you would never end up in, and saying the FA trophy is tin pot despite it now being your best chance ever to get to Wembley

Yeh our ground is very basic but it beats playing in the white elephant every home game.

Also there is a very realistic chance of us being paired together in the trophy. For your sake if it happens I hope its not us at home! Viewing in the away end is crap!

Sorry I've not seen Darlo in the FA cup for years. What stage do they go out normally?

i cant understand why anyone would not want to be playing darlo year in year out. Preferably in league 2. The atmosphere, the tension, the dread of losing, the ecstascy of winning. Not to mention a big home crowd and extra money. Even though im looking forward to this year, bromley at home doesnt really match a derby game.

Want to see Pools, Darlo, Barrow, Workington. Southport, Stockport County, York City and the like back in the football league and all the southern clubs replaced by them. (Except The Gulls of Torquay United who are a similar club to Pools).
