My sister went and enjoyed it. Wouldn't be my idea of fun either , but each to their own.

I went last year and enjoyed it, as much for the project itself and what it represented as the show. Was great to support something for the North East and the whole organization is superb

Went last year and not quite as good as it had been hyped to be in my opinion.

Not bad, but nothing that I'd go back to see again.

I went with my mam- I didn't know anything about it and didn't particularly want to go, and it was pissing down. As it happens it was incredible! It was genuinely epic and I felt a real pride for the North East afterwards. When a full size replica of Stephenson's Locomotion went charging across the set I was ready for full NE independence!!

I thought exactly that but the others I went with loved it. Credit to the organisers and volunteers who perform, if it brings a few tourists to the area it's hard to knock it.

Yep, if it's pissing down it will not be any fun at all and wrap up warm as well.

"1,500 professionally-trained volunteers performing alongside horses, sheep, oxen, donkeys, goats and geese." Amateur dramatics meets bestiality, who wouldn't love that? I'd go just for the oxen.

Excellent show. One of a kind you won't see anywhere else and well worth the money. However if its raining you will get wet!

Parking is park and ride setup, pretty well run and get out fairly quick.

Food joints are standard rip off prices at events as you'd expect. I'd personally eat somewhere nice before going there as they won't have a high quality of bread to choose from.

Agree with Mr Crab. Don't park at the event, it'll take forever to get out. Park in Bishop and use the park and ride. Plenty of food and drink outlets but very overpriced.

Mr tREE you are missing a great experience. The show is brilliant, the food drink etc as said is expensive but you are a captive audience. Parking is adviseable to use the Park and Ride or for you, you could park in my drive. Instead of charging you for Parking me and you could sit and watch telly eating kebabs and Pizza (at your expense) [AND I won't be sitting in my duds and hopefully not you], whilst the ladies enjoy the show. Keep warm as its in a dip and gets a bit of wind (Kynren). They do sell Ponchos, as no umbrellas allowed.

The show itself is longer this year and has Kevin Whately (Nev from Auf Wiedersehen Pet) doing something in it (no spoiler alert).

Yes, but he doesn't sit in his Undies or eat kebab or pizza. Dad would probably order Chicken and Chips.

You can bring Cabbage too, only if he's house trained though!

I'd correct you for not writing "cabbage's" but something can't be possessive if it's not real.

Are the horses, sheep, oxen, donkeys, goats, and geese professionally trained volunteers too ? Just a thought.

I hope these ponchos have history inspired designs. I'd pay good money for a poncho that made me look like Elizabeth I on a barge.
