If you were looking to buy a house in Hartlepool, would you first look at Rightmove/Zoopla,
or would you first look at the local estate agents?
And would it bother you to deal with a online estate agent rather than a local one on the high street?

Rightmove for starters, nearly everything is listed on there. IMO it is better to deal with an estate agent with a local presence but there are some awful agents in town.

Why I ask is that I'm selling our house, and Dowens have said they will match Purplebricks price as long as we pay up front, which is about £1.5k less than a fee on completion cost would be. But they are not on Zoopla. Still tempted though.

I only ever searched Rightmove and Zoopla to be honest.

Why would they not be on though, sound like greedy bastards and reduces the chance of selling it quickly if less people are viewing it.

Be careful with Zoopla as it does the "average" cost of a House in the street.. I lived in a mixed street, big, small, semi's, detached, terraced etc.

Blast from the past. Some name for an estate agent,
Bought our first house off them.
