Nowt on it for the NHS or other vital public services, but plenty for the Tory pals across the sea.

In years to come, will people laugh at this truly fuucked up political era, or try to learn lessons from it?

The problem is you are either a money hungry greedy bastard or a loony left hippy.

Most people just want to be between the two but those with a social conscience halfway to the left.

Those that prefer the opposite mid right.

Unfortunately we a seriously right wing government that have no social conscience at all and tell us austerity works but can find a giveaway billion when it suits.

Northern Ireland is one of the poorer areas of the UK, and this is money for public spending. And although a billion quid is a lot of money it's about 0.13% of total U.K. spending so it's a relatively cheap deal.

It does stick in the craw that there is extra money available, mind, no matter how cheap a deal it is ( in every sense of the word).

Can't see it stopping at 1.5 billion either. They will come for more when it suits. They have the government by the goolies.

Aye, but they have links to the Ulster Defence Association who could be just as vicious as the IRA. One lot as bad as the other.

Historically speaking fair comment Mr Kibber but the fact that the UDA didn't disarm and have killed people recently makes them a lot worse here and now.

A very valid point, I could see it happening sooner rather than later.

Only trouble is, the DUP don't want the border back. Not my cup of tea, but I like to stick with the facts.

True one side is as bad as the other difference is however UDA did not come over here and kill people who had nothing to do with their troubles.
To be honest I couldn't care less and the sooner it's one Ireland the better.

I really don't understand why people rant on about politics on football message boards.
In fact I don't think I understand why anybody would want to rant about politics at all.

At the moment it's the tories who are effectively in government.
They are getting all the flak for everything that is going wrong in this country at the moment.
Yet their party got more votes than any other party.

But we all know that if Labour were in power at the moment then they would be all the bastads under the sun and would be getting blamed for everything.

The bottom line is that we live in a democracy and it would seem that regardless of what gets mentioned on this board, when I get up in the morning, we'll still have a tory government.

And we'll still be having a Brexit.

And Scotland will still be part of the UK.

I think what Mr K said reflects the thinking of most people in this country (beyond the fanatical minority), totally fed up with the crap served up by all the political parties.

This billion quid isn't new money, I dare say it'll have been moved from elsewhere in the UK. Still, its being spent on UK citizens so there is that at least. Plus what was the alternative? Labour can't form a government and another general election would cost more money and produce a similar result.

Not accepting defeat is important though. Labour lost the election but seem to be energised by the reduced Tory majority and will make a strong opposition party to keep the government on their toes.

Another election would cost more than this billion pound bribe?

No it wouldn't. The election cost a couple of hundred million. The election that was called by May that put her in a worse position than before it that meant she had commit a billion pounds for ten votes in the Commons.

Keeping all of that in mind, and the whole Brexit farce are you sure another election would see a similar result because I'm not.

Yep pretty sure all those who could have been persuaded to vote Labour...have been. Unless of course they change leader.
