For the first time in our history we are competing in a national cup competition that we can realistically win. (I exclude the paint pot trophy as its devalued - if it ever had a value).

I'm starting to look forward to the new season.

But its non league shite.

We are just visiting.

We have to hope we get out of the non league asap.

We are massive afterall.

Win the conference (or whatever its called now) get back in the league and forget the year never happened.

There, I said it before Yubep.

Now now.

I know exactly where we are. But I am refusing to acknowledge it.

And I will say it now. If we get to wemberley in the non league final, I wont be there.

Its just not that important.

Whereas getting bak into the league is.

Preferred when your lot were singing "are you watching Hartlepool" before Rochdale spangled you into oblivion.

Still obsessed with us, it's sad. Move on.

One of the quirks of the FA Trophy is; if both clubs agree a tie to played to a finish on the first match without resort to a replay. The only downside is, clubs in step 6 and below don't often agree to this.

Its a competition that only really comes alive from the quarters onwards.

TBF the Trophy and Vase are pointless compared to the old FA Amateur Cup, where a proper real Famous local Amateur Club could win it loads! I seem to remember just a Very Famous Local team?

Why are so obsessed with me you Tarmac laying vagrant?

My thoughts on that clip are that I'm gutted that we're actually having to play at this level of football hopefully it's for one season, that goal wouldn't be out of place on a Sunday morning.

Have you seen a Darlo or Darlo 1883 game since? I'll answer that for you, no you haven't, please don't put a curse on me you thick pikey.

It's not really a bite, you bite when you're bothered by someone.he bizarrely references me all of the time.

This bloke is a thick as mince and probably keeps up more with Pools than Darlo, as I said he never ever goes to games.

Would like to see us at Wembley. I am looking forward to a few away games but the thought of walking up Clarry Road at 2.55pm before playing the likes of Boreham Wood , Guiseley and Solihull, makes me feel sick in the stomach. You have to have standards, and this is below mine. I hope we get back at first attempt, otherwise we could become entrenched in this league and become a Barrow type club, not good enough to go up, too big to go down. It could be our level, and I don't want it to be.

Ok well just to challenge a little bit. Would it really make a big difference watching Pools in this league as opposed to League 2 forever? I started going as a kid in the late 70's and I can't say watching Pools was ever about any sort of real aspiration or quality of football, is was about watching Pools and the matchday experience. I don't really see that much has changed other than a name and a perception. You either go and watch your local team or you don't.

If I wanted to watch a Premier League team I could go elsewhere but none of us on here support Pools because we expect success so what's the difference really?? I'd deffo go to Wembley why the hell not?

I have always went in the hope of seeing us win, which in turn if you do that enough, you achieve success. I have always been aware of our limitations as a club, but I've always thought if the club was run properly then we could at least reach the Championship and hold our own for a few seasons. I knew from an early age that while this was possible it was unlikely to happen, and was always conscious that we could actually end up going the other way , out of the league, and that has happened. Some people obviously can divorce the two and go to a game and enjoy it, regardless of the result, but I go to see us win, and if we don't I get very despondent and threaten to pack in, I think the majority of fans are like that.

It always amazed me in the past, how clubs like Workington and Bradford PA went out of the league and their support base disappeared overnight. I used to wonder what those supporters did on a Saturday afternoon, did they go to Carlisle or Bradford City, or did they get into DIY.

Thankfully going out of the league is not the end of the road it was back then, people can even kid themselves its division 5 if it makes them feel better. I think a town the size of Hartlepool should be league 2 as a minimum , with aspirations of League 1, if you don't have those dreams, then non league is where you will end up plying your trade. We have to get back and get back quick, before people start accepting non league as the norm.

careful what you wish for though. could end up another stockport county where most of their fans haven,t come to terms with non league years after relegation and relagation again. similar sized club to pools and similar fan base. may take longer than anyone wants but after say a home defeat by guiseley a play off position is really a must at least.

Lincoln took about 5 years to come back up and are probably stronger now than they ever were after consolidating and growing over that time period. I think after last season I'm happy we've even got a club to support and being able to stop the decline and exist to fight another day is a good thing.

We should embrace this league and all the cup completions and bloody well enjoy having the club we love competing

thats the way to look at things. going to be a culture shock going to some non league grounds, no segregation etc. and teams coming to the Vic with their away fans tandem having spaces for others.

I will follow Pools whatever league we are in, and make the most of all the new grounds I've never been to before. One day we will be back at Bramhall Lane, Hillsborough, Elland Road etc, but for now we will have to grin and bear it. We are not too big for this league, we are here on merit just like every other team.
