Just possible Jay Lynch ex Salford is our new keeper. Strong rumour from Salford area. Just noticed on Wiki his current club is down as Hartlepool United.

Has a decent pedigree, played for Accrington so must be good LOL !. If he is any good, it would be a first for us to beat off competition from clubs more local to him. Notice he stands at less than 6ft though, now do I not like that.

Thought he left Salford because he couldn't afford to go full time?
Never been impressed by him but there again I've only seen him about 6 times and he's conceded a few!

Bartlett has done ok for us. I would say that they are at least on a par but I can only go off what I have seen.

He's 6' 2" according to Soccerbase, and it seems it was quite a shock when Salford released him as he'd been just named the best keeper in the Conference North.

Says 5'11 on Wiki, but you can take that with a pinch of Salt. Would like to think he was 6'2 . It does seem strange for him to be released, especially with Salford's ambitions.

He put something himself on Twitter saying they'd signed another keeper.

I would want someone for us , better than Bartlett to be honest Loan Star , though to be fair he did ok for us when called upon , there was just a feeling of impending doom with him, luckily it never happened, it probably would have eventually, hence we got Fryer in on loan from the Boro.

Max Crocombe 6ft 4 , there's your ambition, Vanarama, possibly Football League standard keeper in Evo Stik Premier

Have to trust the new managers judgement, we have a different budget now.

Bartlett was fine for us, so long as there were no shots at the front post, or straight at him, or trickling along the floor, or genuinely impossible to stop.

I would have Flinders before I'd have ALB back. One of my least favourite parts of being a Pools supporter is trying to remember who was worse between him.and Budtz. Budtz would become a hologram every 5th shot, but normally managed to scramble the other 4 away. ALB would get in the way of a lot of shots, but seemed to avoid an awful lot.more.

I would be quite tempted by Dimi though...

Are you getting Bartlett and ALB muddled up?

I did some scouting last night at work (well I watched some highlights of Salford games) and it's fair to say I wasn't impressed. He does look like a short arse who struggles with crosses and physical challenges.

On another note Carlisles keeper Mark Gillespie has decided to leave.

Dimi was in The Premier last season, now The Championship, surely he is not going to drop to Non League wages and 4 divisions. Just cannot see it.

Me neither, though he is settled here and has an affection for pools. I think though he could get a couple of years somewhere else though yet, back up at some club like Sheff U or Barnsley etc

I read that Dimi has a new contract offer on the table but nothing will be happening till a new manager is in place and he's already had contact offers from a couple of other championship teams

If he's the same keeper that played against us in the FA Cup, I do recall him being quite short.

Who knows what the plan is this early, we'd still need a backup keeper and the Salford lad may even just be that.
From what I saw he was a decent keeper, not one I'd expect to be playing regularly in the NL for a team looking to challenge for promotion though.

We've been selling players for a while now and not really brought anyone in permanently during that time, the building process surely has to start soon. At least Harrison can't whinge about inheriting unwanted players as he'll have to bring most of his own in. He can however whinge about the time and budget he was given to do so...

I'd take him back in a heartbeat he didn't let us down once.

That's the problem with dropping into NL. Going to be difficult to attract quality loan signings, would of thought Boro would want Fryer at a league club.

I will probably get pelters for this , but I wasn't overly impressed with Fryer, did little wrong, but didn't make enough of those game changing saves for me , to suggest he will play at a higher level. NMaybe at NL level he would stand out.

Was talking to our Chief Scout Baden Powell tonight and he said we are looking at a goalkeeper called Adam Smith , but there is a sticking point over his 250 a week wage demands

True but on the other hand there were a few he let in that I thought he might have done better at or a game that he saved us in. For a big lad he also did not command his area however he is a young lad learning the hard way like all goalkeepers.
