Without knowing who's out of contract I'm not overly disappointed there. Would of preferred to see a completely new midfield but can't see that happening now.

Contract offers to Magnay, Oates and Walker and option taken on Rodney which suggests everyone else is still under contract before people go into meltdown about how everyone should be scattered.

Doesn't mean those under contract won't leave.

I'm pretty happy with that list, although I would have liked to have kept Paynter. I think our squad, managed in the right way, with a couple of additions (preferably big physical types) will do a good job in the conference. Leaves us a little light on keepers though...

I thought Jordan Richards looked good at Cheltenham. But, that was 2nd bottom v 4th bottom of the football league, so not a great barometer I admit.

Not overly disappointed.

Still maintain we had the makings of a good squad last season. With the right additions we'll be competitive.

Pleased about Magnay , but imagine contract offer may be less than what he's currently on, so he could go anyway. Oates and Walker , PAH ! the rest are just young'uns who were/are a country mile away from playing League/National league football, though no doubt one of them will get a trial at a league 1 club and go on to become a decent player. Think most of us would of been looking at seeing likes of Bates,Walker, Woods, Featherstone , Hawkins released as a statement of intent regarding next season. Appears they think that lot can get us back up, or rather keep us up.

They are under contract so it would make no sense to pay them off at this point.

Fair enough. Madness though that a club like Pools in their current state , offer average players more than 1 year contracts. Personally I would of considered paying them off, as they're gonna be of fook all use next season.

Fair play after all the uncertainty. What we must not forget is that the likes of Woods, Featherstone etc they may be retained but if anyone comes in for them we can rest assured that an offer will be accepted, so its a case of watch this space I suppose.

We will now have to wait and see who is the new manager and how many will still leave for selling/better offers.
Im happy with the list to be honest cos lets face it we are non league is there better players out there than what we have got given our current situation.
Now its wait and see upto the 30th of june to renew my season ticket after hopefully getting some information from the trust about Coxhall and whether that @wat has walked away with nothing.
So we are where we are and we carnt change that how ever we can now start being a bit positive cos believe me i thought it was going to be a lot worse.

Anyone else think, after seeing the retained list, that new manager might be BATES? If it is can't see me even paying on the gate next season, never mind getting a Season Ticket. Why not transfer list some of those on contract?

Right ! I'm off for a swim. The Tory manifesto and Pools retained list all on the same day, I cant cope, that's too much doom and gloom , even for me in one day.

A lot of this has to be Hignetts fault, offering two year deals to the likes of bates, woods Featherstone and Hawkins. Hopefully other clubs will take over their contracts so we don't need to pay them off. Finally the day has come that Richards stops stealing a wage off us though, he's never looked good enough never improved in my opinion.

Not surprised in the slightest. With a few additions to the squad we can be a top five side I would say about 10. I for one would like to wish everyone the best of luck in watching these hard working skilled professionals. I will happily pay my entrance money to the trust if none of it goes into the club as long as anyone at board level associated at the club is there in any capacity.

I cant really comment on invidual players, as I havent seen enough of them.

But reading all of the posts here suggests there is a squad of 20 players already for next season, barring any sold on.

Is that right?

We have a squad of 20 from the squad that got us relegated for the first time on our history, and this isnt enough to send you all into complete meltdown?

I am surprised.

I am also reading that with a few additions it could be a good squad.

How many more players, and more to the point, decent expensive ones, do you think this bunch of crooks will allow the manager to bring in?

Methinks some of you have adapted to general shittiness about too soon.

I don't think Pools ever announce that a player has been 'placed on the transfer list'. I would suspect that for a few of those still in contract, if any club came in and asked to sign them on a free transfer it would be accepted without hesitation.

A few people seem unable to grasp the concept of the retained list.

To summarise it deals with the players whose contracts are up. The overwhelming majority who could have been released have been released.

Three have been offered new deals, one assumes on lower wages. In my opinion the three who have had offers ( and I have seen them play ) deserve offers and would be an asset in the Conference.

The retained list obviously does not deal with players who are still under contract, and it may well be that some of those who are in that situation will be leaving one way or the other.

I'm perfectly happy with the decisions that have been made, I just hope the three lads who have offers all accept them.

Some people do appear to be having a pop here just for the sake of it.

This!!!

People seem to think the players under contract would happily just go on the dole and rip up their contracts for nothing.

Yes they might have been told they can go but there not going to put themselves on the dole by resigning, Pools are not in the position to buy their contracts out either.
It would be interesting to know if it's in their contracts that there is a wage cut if they drop out the league. Judging by some of the performances of some of them obviously not.
The other one is are Pools going to remain or can we afford to be a full time club ?

All the signs are that the intention is very much to go into the National League as a full-time set up. Pitch is being relaid and 3 players have been offered new contracts.

That doesn't mean there won't be more players sold - in fact I'd have money on it.

carson almond likely to be sold for small amounts...woods featherstone i think will have other league clubs take them on frees...the fire sale has only just begun..doubt magnay and walker will accept their offers and will go elsewhere...oates maybe will stay...and of course the bankrupt chairman and his pals will continue to draw their salaries whatever until the ship finally sinks

I appreciate about players under contract will not just go without having another club but you do see clubs informing players they can leave if they want to on a free transfer an example of that was Tony Sweeney at Carlisle he opted to stay and see out his contract.
Let's not forget this was the poorest side we have had for many years and if people think this lot will be anywhere near the top of the conference without a number of new faces they are kidding themselves.

The financial situation at the club is well documented, and further information will be relayed at the Trust Members meeting next Thursday night.

As it stands Coxall owns just under 50% of the club , and has no money to invest. Indeed it seems he is determined to draw more money out of the club.

Nobody in their right mind is going to invest while he is around, and so he needs to be removed as quickly and as cheaply as possible.

Surely the first thing the just over 50% shareholders need to do is hold a board meeting and vote that he (and any of his cronies on the payroll) have no further involvement with the running of HUFC or remuneration from it? That leaves him with just his shares and should hasten his willingness to push off once and for all.

Maybe this has been done already? I'm sure Sage Investments don't feel that they owe him any favours or handouts.

Not really correct. I think we've been relegated three times haven't we?

But, best not miss any opportunity to have a pop

The Colonel in outrage inciting post shocker.

With a few additions and a capable manager the squad could be good in the NL yes. They'd have to be better than average additions but no reason why we can't compete.

I'll await the response along the lines of I'm against the trust or I believe everything Pam says for not sharing your views.
