I'm in Nottingham this weekend for a night out, any recommendations for real ale pubs? Or any recommendations in general.

Horden's list is pretty comprehensive, although the Canning Circus area is nothing like a mile out of the city centre, it's much closer.

My personal favourites are the Canal House, Malt Cross, Cross Keys, Vat and Fiddle, and Crafty Crow.

Not forgetting that if you stray too far up past Canning Circus at the wrong time of day you're likely to get stabbed and mugged.

Plenty of options then! Cheers lads. I'm not too sure where we are staying, i've been told 1.5 away from city centre but don't know which direction.

How long are you staying for? If it's more than one day, you could do a lot worse than get on the train and go to Beeston for a day. It's got loads of pubs, between them they probably have over 70 different ales at any one time. One stop from Nottingham on the train, takes about 5 minutes. Loads of good restaurants too.
