I'd argue he wasn't good enough but neither were players who remained at the club.

Yes and Grimsby will be letting Jones go too. Fenwick will be back in the Northern League next year. That's the problem we have too many players who are little better than Northern League standard, Richards, Nearney, Green and a few others. I remember only a short while ago people on here calling for Holden to be played, look at him now Northern League. We seem to get carried away with young local players.

Can't argue with that. Coxall was able to cash in during the transfer window on Toto, Carroll and Laurent, all of whom were picked up quite recently from other clubs. Same goes for Pools' remaining saleable assets, Thomas and Carson.

We say the same every year, but there really needs to be a big clear out this close season of lads who haven't been able to make the step up from youth and reserves to the first team squad. At the minute Hawkins, Walker, Richardson and Martin look worth a gamble on another contract. The rest can go. Plus four or five senior players!
