Our lass tried installing our 2 year Mcafee protection other day yet somehow stumbled accross a fake Mcafee site when trying to install it. Asked for her phone number to complete installation and then her phone rang with someone wanting access to laptop to complete it.

Thankfully the alarm bells finally started ringing in her head and she hung up. Googled the number and seems like lots of people fall for it.

I use norton. Same situation as above this year, asking for ridiculous cash - £80 for a renewal. I left it as I was shopping around. Then the price dropped to £40. So stuck with it.

I'm with Mr I, I've never had a problem with AVG Free. I also use Malwarebytes free for other stuff (ie malware).

As for Malwarebytes it was a bloke who owns a computer systems solutions company who put me on to it.

Yes, does me, but I have no important secret squirrel stuff on my laptop, so if I am ever hacked National security will not be at risk.

You can pay for upgrades on Malwarebytes and AVG.
