Anyone shed any light on ones in Hartlepool, I've started jogging again and wouldn't mind doing one every week.

It's done over the marina I think joe. I was once meant to go but never bothered! Sets off from around near the basin near the yacht club, goes along the prom towards seaton and back.

There's one that goes along the sea front on a Saturday morning (9am, I think) starting the marina end and going to Seaton and back. I've never done it myself but I run along there most days.

I've done it the last 2 weeks. From 3/4 along the pier in the yacht club basin to the square stone monument after Hornsey's and back. Approx 100 people there last week including Eifion Williams! I'm gonna try different ones as this one could get a bit tedious.
If you're going to do it Joe, watch out for the dog shit.

I've done it nearly 30 times, there from the beginning last Spring. Its really, really good. We do different ones most weeks but Hartlepool is our main one. My time has gone from 33 mins to 22:22 and Hartlepool is definitely one for a PB..it's flat, fast and breezy! See you there Saturday.

Do you just turn up on the day and run? Or do you need to register beforehand?

Register first and print your barcode out. gets scanned as you cross the line, results are up by 11am, really great runs.

There are over 800 that do it at my local park run in Bushey Park.

The best thing is, they are everywhere / all across the country so if you are visiting friends or family anywhere in the UK, there will always be a run nearby, you just rock up with your barcode and you'll get your time within a couple of hours. The organisation is first class.

Somewhere down near Bristol wanted parkrun to pay to use the local park - a place called Little Stoke. Parish council tried to argue that the wear and tear on the paths from 300 runners every week meant they should pay for upkeep... They were roundly condemned but refused to back down and so it was cancelled. .... a few months later they were awarded a big chunk of money to use the park to encourage community involvement in sport, having just effectively got rid of the best example of it!

There are a number ran at National Trust locations, the Parish Council at Little Stoke didn't particularly come out of that incident smelling of roses! Although, I did see their point. My local parkrun down here is 'wearing' the field down. But then you've got to weigh up the wear and tear of some grass over the wear and tear of the National Health service I think.

There was over 120,000 people who took park in a parkrun in the UK last Saturday, all for free, all setup and managed by volunteers.

I'm hoping the weather is ok for in the morning, bought a new pair of trainers and everything.

My Aunty lives in Newcastle and does it there every week. She's done the Hartlepool one a few times n enjoyed it, even had a chat with mr elvis n his mate Phil.

She's undergoing cancer treatment at the moment n chemo so she's just walking the Newcastle one but it's give her summit to look forward to and aim for once the treatment is hopefully successful

Parkrun looks to have a really good community spirit and support to it so I think you'd enjoy it joe

Everything is banned by default now, so there was no longer any point in banning runs in particular.
