Who is the best dentist in the town at present then?

Half of the ones I used to use have shut down by sound of it.

I needed a tooth out last year, one of the back ones that has been giving me grief for years.

Went to my Dentists, a well-known town practise.

One of their dentists is a young Chinese girl, about 4ft 6 and 7 stone.

After half an hour, she couldn't shift it, so she called in the Male Dentist in there. After a further 40 minutes of pulling, tugging, scraping, more needles, he couldn't do it either.

They called upstairs to the 66-year old retired ex-Dentist who luckily for me had kept the Flat above the surgery and just happened to be in...

...two minutes later it was out.

I've never been through so much agony in my life. Absolute torture.

It took 4 jabs before the dentist managed to wrestle my tooth out ,my mouth was so numb afterwards that i hadn't realised the gauze had settled right near my throat when i got home.

Bring back the gas mask. :)

I tried to make an appointment at my dentist in Grange Road just up from the Murray Street lights last year, can't, why ? We don't have any Dentists currently, both the regulars retired.
I eventually got an appointment but the Dentist who seen me, new recruit, young lad was leaving.
The Dentists Practices in Victoria and Grange Road are owned by a conglomerate called 'My Dentist' most of their Dentists are straight from Uni and don't hang about long in one Practice for some reason

Not quite factually correct.

Grange Road have never not had any dentists, not even a lack of experienced ones. The best dentist I've ever come across works there, Mr Lowrie, and he's definitely not straight out of Uni.

Not sure where your coming from, my Dentist was Coutts, knew him for nearly 40 years, 4 Grange Road, him and his partner both retired and the practice was taken over by My Dentist, they went trough a period where they didn't have any 'practising' Dentists and when I called they were recruiting.

I'm coming from a place called the real world which is calling you to tell you that in spite of how many times you might want to say it this practice did not go through a period any time recently with no practising dentists. And even if they were recruiting it doesn't mean that they had none at the time Coutts retired. FACT.

They had no dentists on staff, they just used to get in temp dentists, I was there about 4 months ago and was told this by the receptionist, I had an Irish bloke who was a temp.

Since Coutts retired I have been treated by at least 3 different Dentists there apart from the time I couldn't make an appointment when they didn't have a Dentist on their books.
I think the Receptionist is the only original member of staff left, I assume most of the Dentists are newly qualified and move on when they get a better offer or set their own Practice up.

The very mention of Mr Wildgoose is enough to cause a post-traumatic stress situation.
The only explanation of his methods is that he was a Nazi left over from the war.

Hey Elvis - I'm still waiting for the tag line to that story !

Grabec - I remember Mr Wildgoose - mainly 'cos I still bear the imprint of his knee on my chest from when he tried to extract a molar when I was a kid !
I clearly remember the first time I went to June Mathieson (?) in Grange Road & her first words were "you've been to the school dentist, haven't you "?!
