Just got message on Facebook. Has joined Mansfield, is it true?

Looked peed off when he was taken off against Morecombe and went straight down the tunnel. I jokingly turned to my brother in law abd said Billy has played his last game for us, he will be gathering up his stuff and leaving with it in a brown cardboard box .

I have said for weeks he has finished so hopefully his and Toto's wages will fund a striker and defender at leat in. Being Captain (albeit non vocal and in name only) I would think he was on reasonable money for us?

This has been running on t'other board for the last four hours. Not many are believing it.

Then again, if when Hignett said players would have to be sold in the transfer window he meant Toto and Billy, not Carson and Thomas, it gets my vote.

Doesn't seem to be any basis for this except Facebook gossip.

I think we'd miss Billy if he did go. He gets slaughtered by most and I'm one of his critics but I can't help but think he gets the best out of Amond.
Also there's the small fact he scores goals.

If we can get anutha 25k and anuth player of the wage bill then let it happen.
With Newport Notts County n Cheltenham in freefall we should be ok to release a few players from our large squad and retain league status.
Just see what this month brings as u always get rumours.
Some happen some dont thats just the way it is.

I think he would be a big loss. I know he hasn't been as effective this year, but when you compare him to strikers past, would you swap him for Harewood in his twilight?

That Tom Heardman we had on loan has scored a few since he returned to Newcastle. A hat trick against Swansea ressy's recently.

I wonder if we try to get him back. That's if Hignett hasn't pissed them off by leaving him on the bench for all but half an hour of his time here

Only from the penalty spot, not exactly rocket science from 12 yards into 192 sq foot space, if hit hard enough the keeper would seldom stop it.

Plenty of players miss them though. Too much time to think? Pressure? Not sure why but there are enough miss them to make a good penalty record an asset on a player's CV.

According to Stagsnet the Mansfield FC Forum Steve Ec=vas has bid on 2 more players, one ithe captain of his current club. Could be Billu then? , might not be? Could be something in it? another few quid to take Paynter whom I imagine would be out of contract come the summer anyway.

Devante Rodney in would take his place, lets hope he is some good though

Is that what you used to do during your professional career ?

No I was a goalkeeper, a fat one to reduce the 192 sq ft.

I think it would take a pretty big leap of faith to imagine a young lad with zero first team experience, and very limited under 23 experience , could step straight in and replace a guy who has played hundreds of league games.

Well if he can jump I'm sure one member of the board will be impressed.

It's all just rumours and Coxall has said Paynter is going nowhere if you want to take that at face value. Would anyone turn down a decent bid for him? I probably wouldn't if he wants away, I'd rather see Allesandra and Amond given a run together as a front two as both would want the ball on the deck.

Flew across the ground like CB radio waves and landed like a pig in warm milk.
