He said he was a corporate guest at the game yesterday on behalf of his wife who couldn't go.
His wife won the chance of unveiling the trusts wall of fame.

This is an opportunity for all trusts members to have a signed brick with their name on in the trusts wall of fame, this cost £1000 per brick and all money going into the trust.

I said it was a great way to be part of the club for those who could afford it.

He said they have a membership fee of £5 and have ten members called presidents who have invested £10,000 each and have four millionair members who have 50% of the shares and the other 50% is fan owned through a share issue.

The free mince pies and hot drinks were donated by the Portsmouth trust and everyone recieved a voucher for these with a note of thanks for travelling the 600 mile round trip.

All good stuff and was interesting how other clubs trusts run. An Exeter fan gave their take on things when we went to their place.

£1000 per brick! I bet Mr Verbal is salivating!

BTW it was loads cheaper to have your name on a brick when the Big club (Much bigger than Portsmouth) I have an ST for built the new ground. sctatchinghead

Even at that price he said it was fully subscribed.

Is it really the future of club ownership at this level?

Portsmouth have 17,000 watching them and can't get out of the fourth division. Do we have any examples of successful fan owned clubs at football league level. It's a last resort for me if we ever hit rock bottom.

Seriously, whats the difference between being owned by a company that is not funding the club and owning it yourselves?

Yes those are all helpful examples of similar sized clubs as us. He said it was the model for lower league clubs I see no examples at our level.

Very little but I don't want us to be condemned to this constant struggle for ever.

No then weren't they were in the division higher, from a decent sized city and got a stadium built for them that they had the catchment area area fan base to fill.

It's a hard choice, not knowing if the club is safe on a daily basis and struggling in the league or being fan owned with little money and struggling in the league but knowing what the fook is going on.

People need to get their heads round the fact that clubs in league two, will never ever compete at the other end of the scale. Not any more.

It is all about survival now, and just enjoying it.

Unfortunately, because of the above, charging £20+ to watch isnt sustainable either.

Its a lot of coin, to watch something that can never ever go very far.

The premiershit has caused a such a chasm that it will never close, just like they planned it, and part-time football for all other about 40 clubs is about a decade away.

Clubs trying to climb back into the fold, like Darlington, are completely wasting their time.

Professional football has died. welcome to the Football franchise.

The obvious solution to the above is to create a more even distribution of the money in the pot. Unfortunately the clubs at the top very much want to maintain the status quo, and really don't like the idea of clubs being able to climb the ladder. Indeed you could argue that the ladder is being gradually drawn up.

A million pounds a year to each club in our division run by Supporters Trusts from the pot is pretty much small beer to them, but it would ensure survival of clubs that are very much promoting football in their communities, and providing employment to a lot of the kids the Premiership Acadamies spit out.

Problem ..We live in a Capatialist Society.. People who whinge and moan about paying g a little extra tax to ensure the vulnerable are not struggling won't expect their football clubs to do the same.
