Going to be £1 for two hours in the shopping centre. But.... getting re-introduced at Seaton and even at the Newburn Bridge car park, cue more creative non paying parking solutions.

More likely, get ready for the arrival of wankers from dodgy parking fine firms, and watch just how many of them give out illegal tickets. Which the do,as they need as many fines as possible.

I fucking hate them c unts, and wish them all the worst and most painful christmas imaginable.

I came home to a nice parking ticket the other day from one of these private firms, complete not nice people. I paid for 2 hours as I only had that much change on me, went to a meeting and it over-ran, was about 2 hours late so I paid for a full day thinking that would make up for it. But no, those not nice people sent me a £45 fine. I'm disputing it like but not holding my breath.

more likely to find somewhere else to go. 2 hours free in middlesbrough for a start. all the places i,ve been too who have free parking are busy the ones that charge are going downhill fast. another plus for the out of town shopping places. the clowns will never learn.

It'll cause chaos at Seaton Carew just imagine all the people driving around trying to avoid "the chip tax" ... HBC a load of absolute clowns.. Oh and Mr ADG.. just a reminder you can't ignore the clowncil 'fines" like you can those at the private car parks .

You lot don't know you're born. The cheapest parking charge in Durham city is £1.70 and the usual charge is £2.10 for two hours.

On the other hand, in Spennymoor you can park anywhere for free.

Cambridge already attracts more cars than it can handle so they're deliberately trying to force people out of cars and onto public transport. In Hartlepool they've got enough spaces and they've cut public transport to the bone. They reckon they want more people to visit Middleton Grange and Seaton so why create a reason not to go there? By that I don't mean paying the pound as much as having to put up with the aggressive policing of the system.

The most I've ever paid was nearly 20 bar an hour, near Soho. Even at those prices the stairwell still stunk of piss. The company I was working for at the time footed the bill.

Same with me Mr Notts my work pays. However it's just the same at the Addenbrookes hospital I go for work. There are two multi-storey car parks with 6 levels and it's rammed all the time. The council especially for centre of Cambridge must be racking it in. 700 cars approx spaces everyone paying a minimum of £10. Plus how many times is it the turnover in a day. Did I say the council sorry I ment the University who own everything in Cambridge especially Trinity college who I believe own enough land you can walk from Cambridge to London on it

If you have a need to park there I'd assume the cost is a shit in the sewers though. I can't even afford the rent for Park Lane on monopoly.

Sadly this is true, Bishop. There's the mining museum and that quite nice sweet shop on the main street, but apart from that not a lot.

It was a work thing. I had to go to a meeting at the RAC club in Pall Mall. No chance of me parking there if I was paying.

These private firms... Am I best just to ignore them? They rejected my appeal (shock) and now want £45 or £90 if I don't pay within 14 days. A firm called LDK Group, not sure how enforceable these things are.

They are not "legally" enforceable. They are essentially an invoice. However they can take you to the small claims court to recover the money. I got one over the marina a bit back and just binned it. Done some reading online and it seemed to suggest that they will try and frighten you into paying with various letters but won't actually go through with the court action. Of course if they do then you will have to pay whatever it ends up being after that, which will no doubt be considerably more than the initial fine.
