That Bryan Adams one off the Robin Hood film, that was number one for my entire adolescence.

Anything by Celine Dion or any other warbling, screeching woman in her vein.

I can't stand Queen either. Bohemian Rhapsody makes me want to slice my own ears off.

The colonel is correct.

I mean the entire collection of popsters such as Beyoncé and that genre who don't so much as sing but warble and do elaborate dances in their knickers. They can all do one.

Then it's the ones who put on accents when they sing, Adele as a prime example, they should all be made to gargle barbed wire too.

This. Exactly this. Anyone that can listen to amythng by that beyonce must have been born with a hearing disorder.

Life's to short to whinge on about bad music. I spend hours on youtube discovering wonderful music from all over the world - I just skip the bad stuff. I agree on the female singers that warble like a treeload of starlings though, they should be forced to listen to Peggy Lee until they agree to retire.

If I hear those 70's retreads by Slade, Roy Wood in his many guises! I swear I'll explode NO!NO! NO I DO NOT WISH IT WAS XMAS EVERY F*****G DAY!!! That would defeat the bleedin purpose because then it would mean he'd bring out a ditty about it singing I WISH IT COULD BE A NORMAL WORKING DAY EVERY F*****G DAY..... And so it goes on.
FFS produce something new and original, it's been pissing me off for years.

Funny you mention that. I like to do covers on youtube and find better stuff than the original 'artistes'.

BN "Jamendo" is a site worth trying, it's an international music community. All the music, from thousands of independent artists, is free to download or stream and covers all genres - https://www.jamendo.com

Each to their own I say. I welcome the diversity because it increases choice. If I like it I listen to it if I don't I turn it off. I do exactly the same with the TV. The volume control on the steering wheel in the car is one of the best aids to in car entertainment ever invented.

Or Nina Simone or Karen Carpenter or Mama Cass Elliot or Janis Joplin. 3 out of the 4 died far too young, a great loss to the music industry.

Fantastic point today by the way!!

What about that really understated Whitney Houston song that was number one for the rest of your adolescence?

Am I alone in giving a little internal cheer when I heard she had died in the bath, before she could inflict any more pain on the listening public!

That's a little extreme!
The sad thing about Whitters is that she had such great musical genes. Her mother (Cissy) had a good set of pipes and her Aunt (Dionne Warwick) was a paragon of poise and elegant restraint. Unfortunately she, or her musical mentors, never learned that less is, often, more.

There's a site out there devoted to songs that totally miss the point. That one must surely be in their all time top 10, though to be fair it probably wasn't her who chose to murder that particular one.

Dolly Parton wrote it for a very specific event in her real life and her rendition is flat out beautiful. When I played it to Madame she was gobsmacked, having only ever heard the howling version before.
