Don't know about The Colonel, but I'm honestly, definitely 100% within my last couple of months on Social Media. Like you, I love to keep in touch with people and Facebook has been invaluable for things like my Running, Pools stuff, old mates etc...when I had the band going it was great for that too.

Lately I've had a few things happen that have really pissed me off, to the point where you just think..well, that'll do.

Must be an age thing. I know this New Years Eve I made a resolution not to suffer fools anymore, which I've managed to do in the "Real World" by losing a few "friends" deliberately and not spending time worrying about people who really aren't worth the effort..yet online, I'm continuing to converse and be involved with people who I wouldn't entertain "on the street".

Some of the so-called "banter" and "craic" on-line nowadays is just cringeworthy. Grown men, and I mean 50s and 60s, acting like children in a playground.

After years of involvement with things like the Messageboards, the Programme, Radio stuff, the fanzine (before all of those!) I fancy just returning to being a non-contributing, anonymous Season Card holding fan-in-the-street next season where I will withdraw from anything that attracts comment or attention (and therefore criticism!) in search of the quiet life, minus fools.

I'll go quietly, knowing that all I've ever done was for the good of HUFC and what I thought was right at the time. Honestly? I can't wait.

I've always enjoyed and generally agreed with what you've had to say about Pools on Radio Tees whenever I've happened to catch it on the way home from work. Speaking from personal experience, it's dead easy to live without social media and Twitter - I've never joined any of them.

The nearest I've got (discounting ye olde Bunker) is Linkedin, which I joined for 'professional' reasons and find completely pointless. As often as not I click on 'accept' when people want to 'connect' with me, but it beats me why they bother - I'm easy enough to get in touch with on my work email. Last week I changed my Linkedin settings and immediately got inundated with posts from people big-ing themselves up, crowd funding, posting bits of self-help jargon and promoting 'discussions' that have no relevance to me.

Honestly, it beats me how anyone has time for this kind of stuff, much less feels compelled to share details of their personal life with all and sundry.

But hey, we're all different, whatever floats your boat, etcetera, etcetera.

You will hate me for this, but I totally agree with you. Especially about Linkedin. I use it but only for my own benefit when looking for a change of job. And I know who to look out for.

Farking hell, I prefer Keith Vaz to Hodcroft!

Hodcroft didn't share the same interests as you and Keith Vaz to be fair.

I heard Ken was well-known around Allendale for his flamboyant salsa dancing. Don't know about Keith Vaz though.

It's doable, I think I managed it. After years of being almost 24/7, and at the beginning of all this internet shite, I had to make a decision as I could no longer keep up. The days of me and Paul Mullen building website #1 were history. For my own health I walked away, was bloody hard to start with, now I see half a dozen games a season, forced by being exiled of course. If home I listen on Pools Player or whatever it's called now, but I'll happily go out and just follow the score on Twitter.

There IS more to life than football, anybody that says otherwise is stupid. I'm still passionate, I will still talk to anybody who's interested about Pools, or football in general, that never goes away.
