I recently bought something online (not porn) but on checking my statements another 2 transactions have been made using my card. Luckily it wasn't my main bank account so there was very little funds in the account to be stolen but 40 quid has been nicked none the less. I have notified Natwest of what has happened and they have cancelled the card but does anyone know the procedure for getting the money back? all I know is that the money has been transferred into 2 seperate pay pal accounts...

Has this happened to anyone else? Natwest weren't much use, is it likely that I will see the money again?

I've told this before, but I got cleaned out of 3 grand after somebody hacked my online banking and obtained my password.

They simply logged on as me and transferred every single penny I had (in fact it was a few hundred quid more than every single penny I had  )to another bank account....K ANTANNAS or something. Simple as that. Fooking w@nkers, how can they do that to somebody, take everything they have and more? Why couldn't they have "borrowed" a couple of hundred quid instead? Cumts.

Anyhow, luckily I happened to log onto my bank account later the same day, and you tend to notice stuff like all of your money missing and being well overdrawn on top. So I contacted the bank, and they reversed the transfer as it obviously hadn't cleared, so I didn't lose a penny.

The bank then launched a fraud investigation which of course I've never heard anything since, maybe I should have got the Police involved too.

It has always played on my mind since........what if I hadn't happened to have logged on for a week, and the theft had cleared? i would have been screwed I reckon.

I think Paypal transfers take something like 28 days to clear. So if you are still in that period you could get onto Paypal and get them to look into it. I've never had to contact paypal so don't know what they are like at dealing with complaints.

I think the bank are obliged to investigate this, but am not sure how you galvanise them into action. Try Citizen's Advice...they're brilliant at this sort of thing

I've heard it's best never to use an ordinary bank card on the net, because of possibility of fraud. If you use Access on the other hand, you seem to be covered for this sort of thing.

From the look of things they culprits have setup a paypal account in my name using my details. I would of normally been in the same boat as you Mr Quakerz, i could of lost a fortune but I recently setup a reserve account to use for internet stuff and luckily there was next to nothing in it. It still makes me rage thoguh.

The transactions have gone through so I am unable to reverse them. Natwest said they will send me some forms out to fill in for a fraud claim and they will notify the police as well. i wasn't sure if this sort of thing happened a lot I don't know if I'll get the money back but I'm certainly going to be a lot more vigilant in future.......

You'll get your money back if you kick up a stink. The banks are terrified of bad publicity involving security.

You will get a refund after completing the paperwork, normally within a few weeks. Same thing happened to my eldest

Jonny, I like the way you stressed that it was not porn which you bought. As if we would have assumed this had you not said

I would complain to the bank. I dont think the CAB would be much use. Like someone above said, if you kick up a stink with the bank they will do everything they can for you in order to avoid bad publicity.

I hope it isn't Lloyds Bank Jonny, I lost £1,800 about 5 years ago whoever it was was taking a few pounds every day or 2 for more than 2 years. The bank offered me a refund of 6 weeks of money lost when I refused they then offered me £300, I refused again and had to take them to court.
End result is I got £2,000 back but it took about 2 years to get it and I got kicked out of my bank who I had been with for 20 odd years.

I've lost a bit via Lloyds, too, for another reason. I'm glad someone got something back from them because they're a gang of cowboys. Good for you bluemonkey.
I'd change banks if I had anything in my account

A lad I work with received a letter last week from a company called something like Premier Banking saying that Barclays had told them that his home insurance was going up by about £17 per month. He got onto to Barclays who said it was nothing to do with them and they had never heard of the company, that is now in the hands of fraud squad.

He even phoned the number that was on the letter and they were adament that Barclays had given them permission to take his money, they even had the right policy number and everything looked genuine about it.

go into the bank, wear a ski mask, and point a big gun at the teller and demand your money back. Every penny.

It's not the banks fault really - someone has obtained my card details and used them to transfer money. But Natwest have more money than me so i think that its only right to foot the bill.......

My wife just reminded me about their (Lloyds) parting shot, they sent me a letter from Access as it was then saying I was in default with my payments for 0p, if I had problems paying the bill contact the payment helpline. You have been charged £20 late payment fee and my credit ref has been marked so I may have problems getting a loan.
