There's one in my car somewhere. I was driving along and heard a cheeping noise, thinking it was a wheel bearing or something. Then I realised it was a cricket.

Put all the windows down but it didn't fancy the outside world, just hid somewhere and kept cheeping, if that is the right word.

Does anyone know how to entice them out? I thought of catching a female cricket and dangling her on some string round the windows, but if anyone knows if bran flakes or arctic roll will do the job then please let me know.

Your mistake is trying to get rid of a cricket. You should be trying to get rid of a cicada. Probably a dog-day cicada given the time of year.

Pro-tip: if you find it cook it and eat it.

My sister-in-law got a bag of them from something to do with her work. I couldn't face one but my eldest pouched one without hesitation. He said it tasted like a nut.

It appears to have fooked off now, so all is well.

Reminded me of a tale one of our lasses mates told me about her dad who is a pest controller. He managed to catch a live mole, and as it is really rare to see them alive he thought he'd take it to the local school so all the kids could have a look at it before he despatched it.

He put it in the van glovebox as it was only a.short drive, but when he pulled up at the school and opened the glovebox it had vanished. Then he heard some rustling noises behind the dash and noticed that where two of the panels in the glovebox met the were some scrape marks where it had prised them open.

In the end he had to get all the dash taken off to get the little bugger out, cost him a couple of humdred quid.

Years ago, I put a chicken fillet under the drivers seat of my mates car, within 2 days the car smelt like death, he drove with the windows open, sprayed febreeze everywhere and still it stunk, he took it in to the garage and they couldn`t help, I removed it after a week, never smelt anything that bad since.
