A pleasure to watch at his best an unsporting bellend at his worst but you have to feel for him a tad.

I bet the iceland players enjoyed seeing them tears.

Big girls blouse. Looks like the offspring of a one night stand between an Action Man figure and a set of horses false teeth.

This isn't going to script. Cue close ups of Ronaldo's tears.

France aren't very good, I don't think Europe has a top International team on the lasts months evidence. Fucking England have beaten all four of the semi finalists in the last 12 months. Are Manchester United seriously going to pay £110 million for Pogba!? The game has gone mad.

No he's one of the best players to ever play the game, I don't get the vitriol towards him.

Refreshed and surprised to all of the BBC pundits admitting the quality of the football in the tournament has been absolutely shite.

It's got to be the format, if a team can win the competition having won one game in 90 minutes and that game was the Semi Final you've got to look at that, third place teams in a group of four who have not won a game should not be progressing, never mind winning the whole thing.

They're allowed to say that now it's finished. They don't have to try and get people to tune in anymore.

'Utd' I'm about to chuck up, loads of teams are called UNITED including the one you watch.

I don't blame the players, it was hardly his fault old whiskey nose didn't rate him and scattered him on a free, I just find it absurd and pretty vulgar that a football club aren't really bothered about spending that much money in the transfer fee (£110 million is being talked about I know I've said it once but it's appalling) and £300,000 a week in wages to get him back like it's small change. Especially for me when he's completely overrated. Yes technically he's impressive, physically he's awesome but I'm not sure he even knows his own game. Does he score loads of goals? No, he really disciplined positionally and breaks up play? No. £110 million, utterly bonkers.

We both know which utd we are talking about as Pogba hasn`t played for us yet!

I agree with the excessive money and wages, it is disgusting and there is far too much money from sponsorship etc, he isn`t worth that and he has a twat haircut :?

I didnt know which United you meant? there are loads of them.

I suspected you meant the manure utd, mainly because they are generally arrogant arseholes, who think they are the only one. But I wasnt sure.

Thanks for confirming though.

Going to go against the tide here, which is unusual for me, but you really shouldnt want to see any footballer suffer serious injury. Ronaldo is a twat, but I havent seen him ever go out and try and hurt a fellow player.

That tackle on him was awful, and is one of those that players get away with, because it never looks as bad as it seems.

It was completely unneccessary, but was the type of tackle sure to cause serious injury.

It wasnt a two footed lunge, or an elbow in the face, but it was a cheap shot.

Early reports suggest Ronaldo may have some ACL damage and could be out for 6 months. Not nice.

It was irresponsible to let him try to play through the injury.

As for Pogba, £110 million is nowt; it only just matches Gove's revised allocation to the NHS of one Pogba per week.
Not sure what's happened since last summer but Pogba was supposed to be Barcelona-bound at the end of this season by mutual agreement between the clubs and the player.
I've only seen him 2 or 3 times and he's no Iniesta or Busquets. Not even a Rakitic.

I don't mind Ronaldo. Early in his career I would probably agree he was a bit of a show pony but not now. I think he's worked really hard and is deservedly acclaimed as one of the best players of the modern era.

I thought the final was a hard watch and, as many have said, it pretty much summed the whole tournament up. So much for the inevitable march of progress, too. France were effectively playing 4-4-2 for most of the game. Not sure why Deschamps opted for this system. No doubt he will be under intense scrutiny once the World Cup qualifiers get under way.

I said this on an earlier thread but there's no way UEFA will backtrack on the 24 teams now. They need to have a think about how the latter stages of the tournament work though because while you can only take your hat off to Portugal for playing by the rules it does not speak well of the tournament that they won it.

Having said that you can hardly begrudge Portugal some belated success. I thought they deserved the Euro 2000 title more than France did. Sweet revenge for the controversy that surrounded the finish to their semi-final in that tournament.

Portugal won fair and square for me. Sure they started slowly and were in the easy half of the draw, but if you go on to defeat the best the other half had to offer, you can't be asked for more than that.
Anyway the Euros have a tradition of unfancied winners with the likes of Greece, Denmark, Czechoslovakia, Russia.
Welcome to the club, Portugal. Sorry we aren't members ourselves, like.

i wouldnt complain if it was us who won the tournament that way but it does feel like they've won it in a bizarre little way.

Tournament football isnt normally set up to reward failure or being average, you normally need to be shit hot in about 6/7 games where's as they were average for 3 games and have now won the twat. 4 year ago they wouldnt have made it past the groups.

UEFA n more importantly platini have created a tournament that has shitter teams in it and is rewarding failure now by allowing teams to be shit n still got to the next round, it'll just make for defensive football as the smaller teams will sit back and hope for a draw or a sneaky win.

The funniest thing of all, and has been completely overlooked by everyone, is the reaction back at the start of June when England played Portugal in that now infamous Friendly.

Hodgson played the 4 3 3. England won the game, but as we were only playing Portugal, the system was deemed a failure, and what followed was the farce that England at Euro 2016.

Turns out it wasnt such a bad result afterall. Nor performance either.

By hey, Woy knew best.

Portugal winning the euros doesnt change how shit we were in that friendly.

Not sure what your point is.

right, he tried a front three that we all thought was the way to go.

Portugal nullified us.

But we still won.

Portugal nullified everyone, excpt Hungary.

If Woy had had the power of hos convictions he would have stuck with it, and who knows what might have happened.

Instead, he tried to turn rooney into a midfielder, and played about 5 others out of position.

That clarify it?

The trouble was appointing Hodgson in the first place. Nice amiable fellow that he is ..... which seems to be a winning recipe for the job.

Is that the game Kane Rooney and Vardy started upfront? And Milner was in midfield? And Portugal had a man sent off after 20 minutes?

Yeah, Roy should've stuck with that one. We would be European Champions now.

He should've stuck with the system we played against Germany. You know the game we actually looked like a good team?

That lasted all of one game and was binned. He could've even shoe-horned Rooney into that one and not broke the team up much.

I dont disagree.

Except he didnt need to shoehorn Rppney in at all. He chose to do that.

My point was more that we beat the team that won the Euros. Things obviously werent that bad.

But like Jason Cundy kepy harping on about, Woy seemed more interested in looking after Rooney than he did about winning the damned thing.
