Was highly rated at Oldham what seems likes many years ago. He is 27 and mainly played at League Two level so never really lived up to that potential. As a striker his record is average at best but I suspect he'll be playing wider in a front three.

Apparently Pools are going to be 'ledge' next season, according to some random bloke on Twatter.

Hoping that's a good thing.

Anyone else think Iggnet's face has been photoshopped onto someone else's body?

Am I the only one who gets such a Bez vibe from Hignett?

No, he definitely looks like he's a 24 hour party person, which leads to my Photoshopped face theory.

met the lad once and seems quite friendly. wife from lancashire think it could be accrington. a similar player to amond and best as a striker with a big lad with him. can,t see how they could play together however but its a wait and see. a good signing.

We play with a front 3 so im pretty sure he will be here to play on the right of that front 3.

Unless Hignett decides to change formation that is.

As promising as these signings are, I think Hignett will really have over achieved should we get anywhere near the playoffs. None are really standout signings at league level so are pretty much gambles. I'm not saying I'm disappointed but underwhelmed wouldn't be far wide of the mark.
A lot of money seems to have gone missing since January.

They may not be standout signings but I think they are going to improve us quite a lot. I don't think there is a huge amount of difference between League two and the conference and to sign 3 stand out players from that league is good going.

By sounds of it the 3 from the conference were all in demand so i doubt we have paid the usual peanuts we pay to players who are desperate for a club etc as no fucker else wants them.

Im not sure what type of signings you were after to make you 'overwhelmed' instead but id take these 3 over big names looking for last pay packets or youngsters released from Premier League clubs any day of the week.

These signings are the exact way the club should be going, not the failed ior method of throwing big money on 1 or 2 over the hill players n then filling the squad with loans.

I think Allesandra is a proven signing at this level, he scored double figures in three consecutive seasons for Plymouth and that's not as a main striker. When he signed the other day plenty of Plymouth fans were Tweeting Pools saying we have signed a very good player.

The best thing is that they have all scored goals. Obviously Amond scored 37 last year, Deverdics 16 from midfield and also created loads add to that Paynter who scored 15 for us at around 1 in 2 then Thomas who easily has the potential to score double figures. Quite exciting when you think about it like that.

We will be like a conference team that's just come into the league with these players. They normally do well so cant see why we cant. Just a shame we possibly have one of the worst defences hopefully that will be sorted this year.

Bristol rovers being one of many that have proved if your good enough to win promotion you tend to do pretty well the year after. Still think we are way too weak in central midfield and defence to compete with teams at the very top, but we look like we finally have some goals in the team with a bit of creativity and arguably the best keeper in the league.

I don't mean to be negative but we already did the "no over-the-hill-player" thing last season.
But sure, keep trying and you'll eventually end up with a few gooduns.

I wasn't intending to be negative either but signing players from non league can easily backfire particularly when they've failed in the league previously. While underwhelmed by most of the signings, I'm massively excited by what Hignett and Fleming may be able to get from them.

Some achievement given he managed 18 goals in total for Plymouth...in two seasons.
Call it splitting hairs but generally strikers are judged on league goals.

they are, not always fair doing it that way though.

Joel porter scored 21 goals in 83 appearences in his first 2 seasons, albeit in League 1.

At that point he was considered to be an excellent striker and a vital member of the squad, not because of his goals, but because he brought way more to the team, energy, creativity etc. Without Porter, Boyd wasn't half the player.

Of course i'm not comparing him to Porter, merely pointing out that only concentrating on goals scored doesn't tell the full story
