This company really has a lot of things sewn up.

At the weekend I needed to buy the eldest a pair of trainers and myself some new shin pads. I refuse to shop at Sports Direct because the shithouse who owns it treats a lot of his staff nothing worse than slaves.

In a city the size of Nottingham there are no proper sports shops left that sell kids trainers at a reasonable price or proper sports equipment. Just lots of fashion sportswear shops selling stuff at inflated prices. The only place I could get shin pads was John Lewis.

He's pretty much killed off the other sports shops. Always liked JJB sports n he's seen them off.

Thankfully up this way there is a Nike shop up Durham and adidas shop at dalton park so there is a bit of choice locally.

When I worked at jjb, a new director took over the company from Dave Whelan, the money that the guy used to buy the shares was loaned to him by Mike Ashley, as he couldn't own that amount of shares in another sportswear company. The guy then basically ran jjb into the ground then sold the shares, eventually jjb couldn't afford to keep running due to all the crap stock that we couldn't sell and when the company went bust who stepped in to buy all the stock and units to change them.... Mike Ashley. He is part of the reason there is no other sports shops in most town's.

Someone I know took some trainers back to sports direct as the velcro didn't work. They told her it wasn't a manufacturing defect, she should just expect it cause they're cheap.

£20 for a 3 year old's trainers isn't that cheap IMHO.

They have no other competition in the area really, if you need a pair of boots/trainers/shin pads etc.. at short notice without the time to wait for delivery from online then your only option is that shit hole.

I despise the layout, stock crammed in and having to weave around missing people looking for a steal banghead

Stealing is wrong on all accounts, especially nicking tenners from bairns familys.

Decathlon is 20 minutes by car from the City Centre.
Hardly a feckin Himalayan Trek if you want decent shoes for a decent price.
