Should be a canny few I reckon, loads of exiles in these parts. It's going to be my eldests first night game, you would think he was going to a nightclub the way he's going on about it.

I hope so. One of my mates who is a Crewe fan is coming with his son too, preparing for what to expect next season.

I'll play him a bit of Fieldmice beforehand and he'll be there with his autograph book.

It's not been a particularly happy hunting ground in recent times, Meadow Lane, but current form would suggest a refreshing change tonight. I'll be disappointed if we leave empty handed.

Following the game on there twitter. They've not had anything or target yet but they have had to do a fair few 'superb defensive challenges' to stop us.

It doesn't help when your most creative player isn't available and a subs bench that at best can be workman like.
He did a pretty good job of changing the game round when they played here though. He hasn't had that much of a need to turn it around in most of the games

If they are at best 'workman like' at least they add fresh legs and something different. We had players out there that could barely run. We still have no idea what these players on the bench can do because they are not given the chance. If the bench is so bad then keep the same players on if that's the obvious strategy, but change the system.

I thought we were the better side first half and at times played some really nice stuff. The three in the middle were very good and Rhys Oates looked impressive.

Second half they got a goal they didn't really deserve but looked fairly comfortable after that. Hignett did make a change in formation and went to a narrow 4-3-1-2 as we didn't really have any wingers but the lads looked knackered at the hour mark. Full-backs couldn't get up enough to create any width. Duckworth is just coming back and Magnay is not good going forward.

Nothing to be too concerned about - we'd have won that with a fit Thomas and Paynter. Michael Woods showed enough to make me think Jake Gray won't be a huge miss if we don't get him next season.

Be great if Liam Noble received some proper bad news later tonight though.

Not to mention pinning Duckworth to the ground to prevent him taking a quick free kick.

So basically trying everything to get a win noble should be shot. We will miss Thomas from our side at the moment he's the messi of league 2. Wasn't at the game so shot me down but Luke James he'll run all day but doesn't work the goal keeper on the commentry. A disaster of season turning into a poor result with nothing to play for would of took that after Salford. Some bright spots within the squad let's see what the summer brings please be the changes we always talk about. The coaching and team set up has been first class in my eyes and time to install some trust and time in the current management regime. With some true backing from the board with out the paying punter wouldn't have a job.

It's not the end ofthe world. We had 3 key players out and didn't deserve to lose.

I have no doubt Hignett will have learnt from both defeats in terms of where we need to strengthen and who is to be released.

I do find it odd that Lauren hasn't been given a start.

He is more of an attacking midfielder, he has Gray and Walker in front of him, also he came on for last half hour against Morecombe and looked average

4 key players out surely? Paynter and Thomas in attack and Bates and Carroll in defence.

I'd say Carroll, Paynter and Thomas are key on the basis we don't have anyone near their quality in those roles.

Rob Jones wasn't great last night, but is a more than able back-up for Bates.

Just watched the highlights on Sky.

Duckworth looks way out of position for the breakaway and cross on the left that leads to the goal, he has a bit of a cheek shouting at Oates when it goes in.

Then again, Ducky isn't match fit and isn't a left back, which kind of underlines your point.

OK, I stand myself corrected. The guy putting the cross in was Elliot Hewitt, who was playing right back.

In the clip, Duckworth is keeping an eye on a player who is further infield than Hewitt, who must have been on an overlapping run - so down to Oates to cover. Sky's edit starts a few seconds too late to show how the move developed.

I guess it depends what sort of game you want to go and watch. Personally I don't want to watch Premiership " win at all costs " theatrics and gamesmanship. You might expect it in a title deciding clash, but in an end of season game where neither team has anything to play for, it just comes across as being a prick.

If the game is stopped for a head injury the expectation is that the team who were not in position and defending will return the ball to the side who did have it. You don't expect to see someone boot the ball into the far corner 70 yards from where the ref drops it then race down the field to stop the opposition throwing the ball back to their keeper. Even their fans and a couple of their players were shaking their heads.

Likewise if you are being substituted just go off the fucking pitch, don't pretend you don't know you are being taken off then spend two minutes discussing it with your team mates and the ref. It's only time that is going to get added on anyway, it isn't like you are achieving anything.

It was a decent game of football played largely by two sides getting the ball down and passing it. There was no need for the Premiership style fuckwittery.

Think you are being a bit sentimental there. There are certain types of player who want to win every game and will do what they can to achieve that regardless if it is a cup final or a pre-season friendly.
Nothing wrong with having that type of player in your team.

Your argument was he shouldn't be a naughty boy because it was only a mid table, meaningless game.
Meaning it would be understandable if there was something to really play for.
I'm saying there's players out there who want to win every game at all costs and there's nothing wrong with that.

There was a player down injured and the ref stopped play near the halfway line. As we were in possession he restarted with that drop ball thing. Instead of just kicking it back to Carson or one of the centre halves he kicked for touch rugby union style, right into the corner.

They then contested the subsequent throw in so we went from being in possession just inside their half to a throw in near the corner flag.

He also after being subbed on 90 minutes made the slowest exit in the history of football. Initially pretending he hadn't seen the board then having a conversation with the ref about fuck knows what

Sent off today for lashing out wildly after a player had skipped past him. Type of sending off you'd see in Sunday league.

Seems like he's an absolute prick.

Do you think players practice the 'can't believe it look' when they correctly get a red card, he looked really surprised when he was sent off

Noble seems like a half decent player, but certainly a loose cannon, who does what he thinks is best not the team. Must of been sent off a shed load of times now. If some manager could improve that side of his game, then who knows?

On the pitch in his heyday, certainly. But being odious as a manager compared to being a player is not the same thing. We've missed players with that bit of edge for a long time, last one really is monkhouse in my view.
