I took my 2 daughters along today, my eldest is 8 and it was only her 3rd game but the first thing she said about the game was 'that other team weren't very good were they'

So it was that obvious to the inexperienced eyes as well

Aye a very poor side. Thought Paynter would struggle against the 2 centre backs but he played them perfectly.

3rd goal was a beauty and literally about 15 seconds after Hignett went 4-4-2 and put Gray on the wing. Nice to see a manager change things and not stubbornly stick to what he started with.

As you say, a comfortable win in the end without really getting out of second gear. Happy for Carroll too to get his first goal, one dodgy moment trying to play their guy offside but he looks a lot more solid recently and 2 assists at Barnet too.

They were shit but the third goal was timely forget the change of formation it was 15 seconds after they missed an absolute sitter to make it 2-2.

Deffo the worst team defensively I've seen at pools in a while, they couldn't clear a ball straight.

Thought Carroll was MoM. Paynter used all of his experience and played their defence perfectly.

Thought we were poor other than that, yet as said already, never got out of 2nd gear and won comfortably

How many times does he repeat himself?

He probably sums it up , really. First half we started on the front foot, let them back into the game, the half finished equal, other than goals scored. Second half they battered us, we broke away and sealed the game through Jake Gray.

Hawkins seems to be growing in confidence, particularly after his goals last week, & better for playing in a more central position.

Didn't you also spend the early part of the season telling everyone how bad Paynter was?

Not really, he's playing at the same level as he was at the start of the season.

Paynter probably first name on teamsheet.

He is adequate, he isn`t a captain nor a prolific goal scorer, can`t really say he puts it about either, for a big lad he is easily moved out of the way

He's scored 12 in about 25 games.

By Pools standards that is prolific. He's the best striker we've had at holding the ball up in a long time he gives most centre backs a hard time. Probably Moore's best signing.

I know the Ronnie effect was massive, but I think Paynter's absence also played a big part in our lack of goals/points for the middle third of the season. He is the best striker we've had on our books since Luke James went to Peterborough.

Pretty prolific by anyone's standards really 1 goal every couple of games. Easily best all round forward we've had for a long time for me like.

Couldn't care less about how easy he's 'moved out the way' when he's banging in the goals. He could do feck all for 80 mins if he grabs a goal or two.

As far as I'm concerned, Paynter was MOM yesterday. Played like an old fashioned centre forward, put himself about, laid off a lot of stuff that, unfortunately, wasn't read by Luke who played too wide for me, probably under instruction. How he could do with breaking his duck ! Disappointed with Lewis Hawkins' performance, particularly after last week. Hopefully he'll get an extended run in the team & continue his development Surprised that Rakish Bingham was brought on when Nicky Featherstone was taken off - particularly with Michael Woods on the bench. Thought it was a patchy performance against a poor team but very happy with a 3-1 win !

Paynter is a very good striker, to think otherwise you must have cotton wool for eyes.
