I'd love them to go down just to stop Mike Ashley getting his hands on the TV cash.

Benitez signs. That's quite a coup for the Barcodes considering his last club was Real Madrid!

Won't stick around if they go down of course - and the Geordies will hate him anyway because he's not one of them, not 'passionate' and doesn't wear his heart on his sleeve like Wor Kev.

He'll not be bothered if he's well paid. He's won all there is to win at club level with the only obvious exception the English Championship.

For shurre!!

Ashley is continuously labeled as a terrible owner I think he's just badly advised when it comes to the Football side of things. What are Newcastle doing having a 'head coach' in the first place who doesn't sign any if the players? It's a nonsense they spent more money than any club in Europe in January and have spent over £80 million all told none of them signed by the bloke who's held accountable for getting results and now the one losing his job. Surely it's the people in charge of recruitment he needs to have a look at? I mean the policy of not signing players over the age of 28 what the fuck is all that about? You can't build a football team like that.

But the thick and often deluded Geordies seem to forget that without 'cockney mafia' man Ashley's money they'd have been in a similar position to Leeds or Portsmouth at some point. He wiped off nearly a quarter of a billion in debt with his own money. They'd have been completely fooked without him and that's where local owners who had shown 'ambition' had taken the club to the point of.

If you have no control over the players you sign what do a club expect ?
I don't think McLaren will be rushing down to 'sign on', compo from Derby Newcastle and probably the England job, won't be visiting the food bank either ?

The TV reporters will be out getting the opinion of the Geordie in the street and funnily enough they're never happy because the deludedly believe they're a massive club and deserve a massive manager......... On another planet.

I've never heard anyone say McClaren isn't a good coach but Newcastle are team without a spine, no leaders. That has to come down to recruitment surely and that fact a football team needs a manager not someone behind the scenes just looking for players they might be able to sell on for a profit. How do you build a team like that?

I saw them play Leicester before Christmas, when I say 'play' I meant get totally slaughtered by. Yes the opposition were good but Newcastle were embarrassing, Colocini is meant to be captain he spent most of the second half chasing shadows and hiding.

I think Mcclaren gets some good press 're this good coach title however no one from Derby Nottingham or Newcastle seem to agree. His reign at all three clubs has been nothing short of embarrassing surely no one will take another chance on him. At Newcastle he had an array of talent at his disposal and as you have pointed out we're more often than not shocking. Colocinni only a couple of years back was in The Premier League Team of the Year. Every single player on the books looks worse playing under Mcclaren. Rob Elliot the exception.

I think he undoubtedly is a good coach, the point is that doesn't make you a manager.

I watched Moussa Sissoko playing for Toulouse for four years and I swear the bloke is a top class footballer. Better than Jeremy who went to Valencia and then Real Madrid and way better than Etienne Capoue who didn't quite cut it at Spurs but looks excellent at Watford. Anybody who makes Sissoko play as badly as he mostly does for Newcastle is a bit shit. Whether he's called a manager or a coach I don't care, he's a bit shit.

Only Newcastle United could spend £80 million but still have a defence as bad as they do.
