Those crying saying Harrison should be starting will be gutted.

At 6'-7" and bags of experience should be ok.

Don't know how much he's played recently.

Last time I saw him was at Billingham, he was in charge of Doncaster reserves, think we won.

Perfect signing that exactly what we need right now. He's always good for a goal or two as well.

Apparently he's been training with us for a couple of weeks and played for the reserves yesterday in the 3-1 win over Newcastle reserves.

By the way thought it was interesting the young Jack Blackford came on and scored in the same game.

I've a mate who used to play with him and couldn't believe he made it as a pro. Obviously he's not a scout as Jones has made a decent career out the game and will add something different both at the back and at set pieces. He is 36 mind so hopefully it's just until the end of the season.

At 6"7 I don't think pace is his main asset. He might give make Howard look silly over 100m though, if Howard could run that far without falling over.

What a shit signing, he is 36 year old and not played that much in recent years, could cost us our survival

Great signing, the experience we need to help keep us up. Great move Higgy.

(I'll edit this post at the end of the season to whichever is appropriate so I can do a "I told you so" post)

Which central defenders in League Two are 'rapid?'

Experience, leadership, organisation are some of things we lack hopefully he can bring all of those things and have a Gary Strodder type impact.

As you might expect, he won every header today. It gave me no pleasure to see Harrison dropped but I just think the lads confidence is totally shot although Jones is probably exactly the type of player he needs beside him to get his confidence back.

Who was it saying earlier in the week he wouldn't be fit enough to last 90 mins, care to take it back as he cruised through the game

I counted one misplaced pass, but apart from that he was flawless. Cool as a cucumber, the best player by a mile today.

He reminded me of that early Spectrum game where you had to move a block left to right to land a ball which then knocked the bricks out. Every time the ball was played into our area he was behind it pinging it back out.

Bamboozled by an 18yr old for their goal.

Then again I only saw Goal Rush!!!

Sack him and give them the 3 points!!

Jones was Hibs captain in the 2007 Scottish Cup Winning side & scored. He was signed by Donny as replacement for George Friend although seems to be a totally different type of player. I remember him playing for Gateshead too as well at Northern League level. Should be a decent signing for us & may well help keep us up. If any teams go long like Barnet did yesterday Jones will be heading them straight back out.

He was good - his debut reminded me of James Sharpe at Lincoln (oh, happy days...) - but I did think that he was at fault for their goal - and to say he was our best player 'by a mile' is OTT - for me Thomas had his best game yet, Billy was as powerful as ever, Gray was class and Luke was looking as good as in his pomp first time round...but Carl Magnay was our best player by a country mile..

A bit harsh to say he was at fault for the goal, for one it was a brilliant goal from the lad and two Carroll runs across Jones path which stops him closing the the lad down, but even then a better challenge should have come in before he got into the box. Collectively we could have stopped it better but it would be churlish to take anything away from the kid who scored.

PJ - the voice of sensitivity - his feminine side comes through at last.

Actually, sod off, I'm not interested in your nit-picking point scoring. 'Churlish'...jeez, do you know what that means?

I'm not the one nit picking you are the challenging someone saying one our players was outstanding. I'm not sure you can single out an individual for the goal at the game it might have looked like Jones didn't come out to close him down before he shot on TV you can see Carroll trying to track the lad runs across and prevents him from doing it. Plus it is churlish to take credit away from the young kid who scored it was a an excellent goal.

PJ - call the Real World when you understand the English language - i said that others were better; get it?

Your tiresome, attempts at point scoring, are increasingly pathetic. Why not come on here and enter into a positive dialogue about Pools?

Bring back Pirlo!

Saying Barnet scored a good goal and that it's a bit harsh to blame Jones for it is the most argumentative I've been on here since I said the Derby game might have a chance on being on.

That'll be me then - and very happy to take it back! Mind you, I did also say after the Brizzle game that Hawkins should come back into the team, and the 'doomed doomed mongers were overlooking how absolutely dire York's form is - so my Mystic Meg-ometer isn't in the red just yet!

Hope Pools can push on now, finish the season in 18th or 19th, at any rate avoid finishing 22nd two seasons in a row.
