Have given up drinking during the week which might be why I'm currently feeling happy and alert despite having got up very early all week and working very hard on a crap piece of work today.

So why will I almost certainly get moderately pissed tonight and then feel a bit shit until lunch time tomorrow?

I pretty much limit any alcohol intake to Thursdays and Friday.

I can only handle 2 pints and am smashed out of my mind wanting my bed.

I blame old age. :-(

It's the complete opposite for me, years ago a few babychams would have had me projectile vomiting in the front room of The Blacksmiths. After discovering witchcraft (i.e. Milk Thistle) I can now drink just about any amount of anything and I don't get hangovers. I don't seem to get pissed either, which is unfortunate as it's rather the point of bothering in the first place. But never mind, I can now become an alcoholic.

Babycham in The Blacksmiths was a brave choice. I salute you.

So if you don't drink can you still go in pubs to see your mates, and if so what do you drink while they are knocking the pints back?

That's a very good question. The list of soft drinks available in most pubs has more or less shrunk to tonic water or coke. Drink more than one glass of either of them and you feel as if your stomach has been pumped full of gas.

I don't mind being the one to do the driving when I go out in a group, but usually tap water is preferable to the other stuff on offer.

I blame my voluntary period of being tee total. Once we found out the missus was pregnant with number 1 - I knocked booze on the head to support her. Felt great. I even remember once the little un was born we went out for a meal. I had 1 pint of fosters and the room was spinning. Pretty much since then I've struggled with drinking. :-(

On the plus side - saves me a fortune. I have 2 beers in the pub on a Thursday - total spend £4.90

I have 2 beers on a Friday in the house - total spend £2.50

win win.
