Are you calling near me, Mr Saddler?? I still owe you a kicking for the overzealous celebrations.

And a pint naturally. Save you a night in a hotel. :wink:

Where are you exactly? I have a mate to see in HK, so if I get the chance I'll pop over to say hello :wink:

Nanning, if you're coming through Hanoi you'll cross the border at Ping Xiang and unless you do the coastal route the main road goes to Nanning. There's a twice daily bus for about 120 yuen or 70,000,000 dongs if the inflation rate is still in the thousands.

You can stick your fookin' trophy up yer arse........

In that case, it could well be on, I'll let you know nearer the time but I plan to leave the UK around 20th June and stay until around the 20th August. I haven't booked any flights yet though.....

(Now 700,000,000 Dong on the bus! That's almost 3 quid!)

I won't mention the trophy again then

How does he do it? has he no job/no commitments? Where does he get funding etc etc. You'd think he might give us a clue

I'm a student, having just finished another public funded course in teaching. Cheers for your ongoing PAYE contributions folks!

And I used to teach English out there, quite lucrative considering the outgoings:

Food = 20p
Accom = 30 quid/month
Girls = 5-13 quid for 'long time'
Beer = 60p
Transport = cheap

I'm going back for a holiday, all this studying is really hard graft! :razz:

I haven't seen one since that one I flushed down the lavvy on Sunday. Hopefully it's mates saw it bruised and covered in shit and nashed off elsewhere. Mrs Kev pulled the washer out yesterday to clean behind it and I retreated to the front balcony while she did so just so I didn't get under her feet. :wink: :wink:

Any advice on things to see and do on the road from HK to Nanning? There seem to be two main roads, one through the mountains looks the most direct.....I'll probably take at least one break along the way.

Guangzhou is OK, bit commercial but there's at least a footy team there with a decent stadium right in the centre of the city. There's a bit of a music scene there as well, mainly soft rock, but there's someone on most nights somewhere. Lots of night clubs but they all seem to be either cabaret or 'techno.' Lost of Koreans and Vietnamese, watch your pockets

If you're going up through the mountains, Guilin is class, have a river cruise and take your camera, or make your way to Yang Shuo about 40 mins by bus (every twenty mins or so) which is great, stay off West Street though for food and booze and any fookin thing as they've seen the Yankee dollar and charge through the nose. For a hotel up there, go up the 'ancient street' off West St, turn up beside the toothless hag selling flip flops, and there's about four places at 4 quid a night. DON'T pay any more than 10 yuen for a beer. Find the Buffalo Bar for happy hour (noon 'til 8pm!!) and decent music.

Question for Kev:

Can I get a Vietnamese visa in Nanning? I'm assuming the pound is transferable in that neck of the woods too. :wink:

Mr Saddler I have today collected my and Mrs Kev's passports from the Nanning Vietnamese Consulate. 400 Yuen (28 quid) and a three working day turnaround. We have 'our people' on exchange rates, very favourable, pound sterling welcome.

Just don't say the fookin 'm' word, or you are sesame toast. :evil: :evil: :evil:

Hi there,

Currently in Macau, but.....

Just booked a flight to Singapore for 40 quid so the plan is to work my way north up from there. Will get to China but in about 6-7 weeks.

Soz if this is a hassle, as no doubt you have been a hive of activity preparing all sorts of dancing girls etc for my visit.

Ps is a china visa REALLY 40 quid! refyellow

Cheers
Matt :wink:

Macau eh?? With a good wind I could meg on yer from here. taz .

No, a Chinese visa shouldn't be 40 quid unless you've got multi-entry on it. Single entry is about 26 quid but it might depend where you're applying I suppose.

I got chucked out of Vietnam last night. I've been chucked out of a lot of places but never an entire country. Fookin' third world tin pot inflation-wracked dictatorship, they can shove it up their arse. refred refred refred refred refred

How on earth did you manage that?

Personally I dislike Vietnam and the Vietnamese, they are rude.

The truth is I didn't want to go through Vietnam before relaxing in Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia. When in that chilled state I can handle the Vietnamese 'culture' but I don't think I could now, fresh from a year in the UK. I'd respond to aggro in the street, like I was doing after 7-8 months there before. banghead

Might I recommend that when you leave here, you make your way up to Kunming and get a flight straight to Bangkok. China Eastern, Thai Air and various other airlines are doing it now which makes it cheap, also while you're up there you might want to have a look at Li Jiang which is up in the mountains. Fookin' stunning. Also, you can get on the Air Asia network in Bangkok to all your other destinations for cheap.

That way you don't have to deal with the gooky bounders at Hanoi Immigration. :evil: :evil:

Cheers!

I got a flight with Tiger air from Macao for 40 quid all in. The only other flight I'll make is possibly between BKK and Phnom Penh as that journey overland is rubbish and possibly from BKK up to the North of Thailand. I've got mates in Southern Vietnam and have yet to see the North despite living there for 3+ years. I suppose it's just to cross off the list but I'm receiving mixed reports of their 'hospitality'.

Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Cambo to relax in before then though clappp
