I'm supposed to be off camping on Friday. Not sure I can cope with predicted heavy rain alongside putting up a tent that I've only done once before and got dead stressed doing - with two kids, one of whom cant even walk yet. Was looking forward to that as well.
Looks like I'll be climbing around softplay then

in one billion years it is predicted the planet will be uninhabitable anyway because it will be too hot as a result of the Sun's ever- increasing level of activity, and if mankind still exists then it will need to have found ways of living elsewhere - although I reckon evolution may have taken care of things by then in any case.
I wonder what creatures would be playing for Pools?? Cadbury's Smash robots?

I said to our lass today that we seem to have no money and even less time to do anything. I'm actually not sure whether I'd rather have no money and loads of time to find things to do.

They Government need you to be scared of something. It used to be the Commies, before that it was the Nazi's, even though the buses DID run on time in 30s Germany. Then it was AIDS, then it was SARS, then it was bird flu. Now it's the rag-heads, recycling and the sun. They just pull you all over the place and quietly tax the bollocks off you.

Aye.

In the 1940's just after the war...................The north east had its coldest ever recorded winter............the most snow, over the longest period.

That was weather.

In 1976............we had the hottest, driest summer ever recorded........Climate change?????

No.............just weather.

Move forward to 2007.

Its hot in april..................Global warming..................More tax please.

Its cold in May..................Global cooling....................more tax please.

Its June.....................its wet as fook..............thats Globel?????errrrr......not sure........................so..................more tax please.

All three of the 2007 examples are examples of climate change..........but had they happened in the 70's..................which the obviously did............they were weather.

Climate change/Global warming...................are the topic of the day.

In 20 years time there will be a new horror to scare us with.

Am I right Karl?

But according to some board members, us 'mere mortals' know nowt and needed to seek the advice of others on this matter....... rage

I was woken at 4 in the morning by a howling wind and torrential rain battering our luxury log cabin in Jockland ... when the power was restored, the weatherman told us it was gonna be crap till Monday..."I am NOT gonna be stuck in this place for the next few days staring at you!" our lass said..."we're out of it!!!".... The only people 'enjoying' it were the German campers....
Global warming... ask me when we've defrosted

About 10 years ago I was involved in a coal fired power station project in Hanghzou and we brought the Chinese over to see our youngest coal station (Drax) which was then over twenty years old. They did have a laugh at the technology - so we had to take them to France to see a modern one!
