I think he has done well there, just get a bit of steel to replace featherweight and anybody with 2 good legs to replace Carroll and wehave a decent defence.

Would also say Bates has been playing pretty well since he came into the team with Jackson. I probably preferred him when he played in front of the back four for a period last season but apart from him the rest of our centre backs are young lads so I don't see an option but play him. When people have played alongside him they've said he's good talking them through the game.

we were happy enough I guess that we wouldn't be bothered if he left if rejected lower wages in the summer but now is starting. what happens when you are as shit as us and can't afford to release absolutely everyone who is shit from the season before

Aren't Paynter and Carson experienced players like? Magnay is hardly inexperienced either. That's three of the main summer signings. Worley has also played a lot of games at this level.

Or are we not paying them!?

I know the rules say anything as long as it's depressing accuracy doesn't matter :laugh:

Nothing like just picking what you like out of my post but maybe I wasn't totally clear.

Carson we paid a fee for, albeit not much but he is a good signing. Paynter has obviously been a miss and fair enough.

Would hardly deem Magnay as experienced as such but again been a good signing but some what a fluke in a position that he wasn't remotely signed for and didn't play till the 2nd last friendly I believe.

I'm trying to say is that the loans see sign are always kids, presumably when clubs don't want no/little wages paying. The permanent transfers I like to have a blend, you can't point out the experienced players without looking at who has actually played. Paynter is missing 3 months but without we would be bottom most likely so aside from him we haven't had Worley or Magnay for a great deal of the season.

Last year we got mirfin, was a huge difference. Worley has been poor signing, and surely this was able to be seen from a mile off regardless of what type of injuries.

I'd much prefer young players, if we were signing them, actually improving and then selling them on for a profit, which in turn is reinvested. If we aren't signing younger players permanently, it seems quite pointless for a model for the club to follow!

Bates was the best outfield player, and Jackson was good first half. But he gave a few daft fouls away second half, but thats not surprsing with whats all round him.
