On trial today. Surprised he's without a club.

imagine decent enough still for this level.

think he was the one who went in goal for swansea when darrell clarke scored a hattrick in a 7-1 win all them years ago

He was, I was just going to say that myself.

He was on loan at Crewe last season

Could be a very good signing and experience we need at the back.

I've just spotted him in a car driving down the A19 with Micky Nelson, won't have been Nelsons car though as it was Citroen Picasso.

He's from Easington which might help with our image problem.

It was the game we won 4-0 the season after when Humphreys scored a hat trick that he ended up in nets after Roger Freestone was struck down with whey looked like arthritis.

I think Tommy Widdrington was the only goal he actually conceded but he had some good craic with the Town End.

How fortunes change us beating Swansea 7-1 and 4-0 in consecutive seasons.

http://www.inthemadcrowd.co.uk/UI/Match.aspx?oid=4011

He could be the experienced centre back we need, played in every division for Swansea and only 33.

Could be, as could of Bates, Robbie Elliot, Tommy Miller. Could be a couple of years too late imho, however cant be any worse than and should be an improvement on what we have at the club at the moment. Plenty of experience and a player who has always put a shift in.

In all seriousness, as Horden indicates he would only be coming to us as he has no better offer elsewhere but then, are we likely to unearth another 'mirfin' on loan sctatchinghead

we just have to keep faith in RM and be realistic as to who we can attract I guess.

Name one player who comes to us who has better offers elsewhere!? Great statement!

As the season goes on there will be players struggling for games elsewhere who just want to play. Hopefully they'll be desperate enough to play to come to Pools and be damn sight better than what we have.

My sentence makes no sense, that wasn't what I was trying to say. My apologies smart arse. I hope he turns out to be a John Mcphail but we'll probably end up getting a Steve Howie confised

I know what you mean, for years we've been scraping the bottom of the barrel for signings and there's no reason to believe Tate will turn out any better.

Apologies in advance for the heresy but the faith that I previously had in RM is fast dissipating given the 'quality' of the majority of his close-season permanent and recent loan signings. Tate surely cannot be any worse than Boyce if he tried his damnedest, but I will reserve judgement - assuming that he does actually sign for us that is.

He should be fresh then.

It's about time we had a lucky break with one of these "older" signings.

Elliott, Solano, Howard, Harewood, Parnaby haven't worked out as planned, and the last player like this who we signed who was any good was Stephen Wright who did ok but only played a dozen or so games, and probably before that was Gordon Watson.

Surely Tate is better than Boyce though!!

Could be a chance to go 3-5-2 with Harrison, Tate and Jones with Duckers and Carroll as wing backs.

We live in hope yet again but probably wont happen.

This replacing shit with shit will never work while off the pitch we are run like a non-league team.
A big part of the reason while half the bunkerites dont go anymore.

Interesting though that in the period we had Mirfin in the team from Portsmouth away (his debut) to his last game were he got in injured at York we conceded just 13 in 14 games which was ultimately the spell that kept us up.

It's pretty obvious we are missing experience and organisation at the heart of the defence. How much better a player did Harrison look alongside him as well?
