What's your tax code? Sounds like emergency tax

I might be a bit out of date with this, but I'd ask at your wages office first, Mutley. If it's their mistake, they can put it right straightaway.

Otherwise, they can at least explain it and give you the number of the Tax Office that deals with your case. Hopefully it's just an error...otherwise you'd think they'd have had to provide you with a reason for the tax increase.

Conkering with Grabec and Joe Mac. If there is something missing from either you or the employer they stick you on emergency tax but they usually put it right once you get in touch and sort it out.

If the tax code is 1060L W1, 1060L M1 or 1060L X its emergency tax.

That is good, it does take a while to get through and they can be very unhelpful sometimes. Make sure you get a resolution without having to phone back

Have you got any unpaid tax from previous years because depending on amount they can build it in to your tax code rather than ask you pay it.

43 minutes on the phone....but he was very helpful!!!!

Basically it was this....I helped out at Crimdon about 4 weeks ago cos they were understaffed and pleaded with me to help them and worked about 10 hours for them!!!!
After helping them out they decided not to pay me but finally did last week!!!!

I was taxed that amount due to having 'two' jobs even though I told him it was a one off!!!!
He has sorted it out for me and I will get my money back when hopefully my tax code reverts back next week!!!!

I worked at Crimdon and got taxed double what they actually and finally paid me....never again!!!! rakxe rakxe :uhoh:

Another example of why this country is shit.
A man doing the right thing and working hard for his family gets taxed to the hilt,
yet people doing cash in hand work and claiming benefits can get away with it for years.
