The numbers on toaster settings are actually minutes, not 'levels of brown-ness' or whatever the fuck I was thinking they were.

No I mean all sign languages intended for communication with/by deaf/dumb people. Or do we have to use euphemisms for those terms these days?

I dont think 'deaf and dumb' has been an acceptable term for quite some time.

I don't think terms like impairment or disability are euphemisms but they ARE free of the pejorative overtones of the words I grew up with like 'dumb' and 'cripple.'

Likewise, down's syndrome and cerebral palsy are a bit of a mouthful but if it was my child that was affected I don't think I'd want them to be referred to in the old-fashioned way - insults that I learned on the playground.

Then again, I can see the logic of not referring to disability-free people as 'able-bodied' but 'non-disabled' is definitely a euphemism!

They're just attached to a crude thermostat, unravels to a certain point with the heat and triggers the "cancel" circuit.

No timers or brown-ness settings.

I get pissed off when people incorrectly start a sentence with 'And'.

Sorry that's being a spelling and punctuation idiot tbh as never got any of it and being dyslexic doesn't help. I am good at maths and science though :)

Churchhill's 'we will fight them on the beaches' was never broadcast. It was read out in parliament, but they didn't record them in those days. The speech you'll have heard that often turns up on war fillums was one of many he recorded years after the war, as part of his self-aggrandisement.

In a similar vein, Kirk never once said "Beam me up, Scotty".
But the out-of-character William Shatner has indeed said it.

France, the country with the most widely acclaimed cuisine in the world, was the last European country to adopt the potato.
