IOR knew that all along. You don't realise just how shrewd they are. If they had done stupid things like investing imagine the money they'd have wasted.

Today's Fail reckons Bates and Parnaby will follow Harewood out the door and the future of Austin and Franks is "up in the air."

I think that's code for 'Ronnie has seen enough.' As IOR are mad keen on continuity they probably will fight to keep Aussie on - if he goes that will be a strong signal that Moore really is in complete charge of on field matters.

No mention of Tommy Miller leaving in the Fail... oversight or ??? Player/coach?

By the way Mr. Monty, it's ridiculous to suggest that Steve Howard was an IOR pick - we all know for a FACT he was Micky Barron's choice. Nothing to do with that nice Neale Cooper at any rate.

Ah the power of suggestion! I didn't say they'd brought those players in, just that they might bring in players like them.
But since you saw through my little ploy... you agree they brought Solano in then?

I have a theory that the reason they allowed Shearer's portrait to vanish was his turning down the player-manager job offer.

I see Ian Sharps has been released by Burton and Michael Raynes by Mansfield who could both be decent signings as the experienced centre halves Ronnie is after.

Bastards havent released Rakesh Bingham like.

On a positive note Fabien Brandy is free again !!

According to their official site Mansfield are to hold talks with Bingham later this week so he must be out of contract

As at any club the accountants will have the final say about signings and we all know Pools will not bust the bank to bring players in. The good thing is RM has worked in the lower divisions so knows the expectations of players salaries.
I would have thought Bates and Parnaby would be on two year contracts so could be stuck them for another season, not unless some one would take them on loan ??

The club have options on them both, if they want to extend their contracts or not, I'd say not

If they improve the team I don't see a problem with taking cast offs

Ken's little 'I told you so' rant in the Exeter programme about Colin Cooper ignoring IOR's advice to retain certain players (Monkhouse, Sweeney...Walton?) was almost as funny as him recommending the good folk of Hartlepool to vote Conservative or UKIP because their candidates had shown a modicum of interest in HUFC (unlike the current MP).

Unlike Colin Cooper, Ronnie Moore has done enough while he has been at Pools to convince anyone but the Oystons and Ashleys of this world that he is entitled to make his own choices (within budget!) on who stays, who goes and who comes in. During this latest relegation battle, IOR backed Moore to a degree that showed up their shameful lack of support for John Hughes.

Realise this could be another arse/Binns window prediction, but I can't see them changing tack now.

I wouldent say ior backed Ronnie.
All he did was replace loanies who went back to the parent clubs.
A case of one out one in.
He did bring in some good loanies tho.
With some decent funds we should hit top seven.
Its basically down to ior were we finish but got a bad feeling they expect ronnie to do well on a shoestring budget.

Don't disagree about the one in, one out but the difference from the recent past was Ronnie was allowed to sign some players on wages from other Football League clubs rather than youth players as freebies from Premier League clubs.

No doubt Ronnie will have to work with the money he saves by letting people go, but it's nailed on he can get better value out of the wages Cooper wasted on old men and crocks.

the most worrying thing, and its being completely ignored, is that even with all of those signings, we should still have gone down with 45 points.

To move forward this needs to be understood.

No question it was a very lucky escape the way Tranmere and Cheltenham basically finished their seasons in February (Tranmere 5 points from their last 13 games, Cheltenham 7 from 13).

Amazing that Pools kept plugging away, amazing that it came off. Even cats only get 9 lives - that's Pools 14th near death experience as a league club - not counting the close shaves!

Said he would keep you up.
The three to take a promotion/playoff punt on next year will be Hartlepool, York (Wilcox has form and a bigger budget for the last season at Bootham Crescent and Yeovil under Mr Fixit Sturrock.

As much as Morgan has been a poor sighing, he did score the goal that got us 3 points. Albeit we didn't need them in the end but all his signings made at least some impact!

What absolute steaming horshit

Quick someone contact the Football League, we 'should have gone down with 45 points' relegate us now out of fairness. He's me thinking we got enough points to finish third bottom THIS season and now that's history as I can't see table changing now.

Plus from where we were when he took over 11 points from 20 games 7 defeats from 8 (bottom of the table form in in any division) to get 34 from the last 26 was a good effort, that ratio gets you about 60 points over a season (mid table) So I'd say the bloke did a rather good job.

Oh dear Mr PJ. Please try and put posts into context. This is why others think you are a bit thick.

I know Moore has done a great job, but I was responding to chips post above mine.

And of course, add to the fact that I am right, as usual, and you will understand.

If we'd have had all of those players throughout the season and only accumulated 45 points then Mr Colonel might have a point.

Stating that getting to 45 points from where we were is a 'most worrying thing' is actually 'a bit thick'.

I don't care others think of me and I know like others to take your posts like a pinch of salt but whatever context that post was in and whoever it was in reply to it was load of nonsense. It doesn't matter how many points we stayed up with what matters is we stayed up. The points total is history and irrelevant moving on.
