Bit of a dilemma

, the kids new hamster 'Bob Marley' has popped his cloggs, thing is we've only had him 3 weeks, this is after their previous hamster 'Nigel' shuffled off, they don't know as yet but dreading tea-time when they're due in.
Anyone got a really good excuse (other than) or creative lie we can use to 'soften the blow' as you would say? :pray:

We told our two that the reason their goldfish, the imaginatively named 'goldie', wasn't in his tank, was because he was at the vets to get better.
Though I was at a bit of a loss as to how to explain why Goldie was now an inch bigger and a slightly different colour when he returned from the vets!
