If Mirfin aint fit id be tempted to play 3 at the back and replace him with bates. The two young lads look a bit lost without an experienced voice alongside them. Fingers crossed for this toe though!!

The only question would be his fitness. Moore said he thought this last week but didn't think he was up to it fitness wise so I'm not sure it'll have changed much in a week. I think I'd give it a shot though

I'd play Bates and it doesn't look like Mirfin will be fit unfortunately.

Its a sad state of affairs that he might be the best option if mirfin isn't fit as the times I've seen him he's been gash. Surprising as some boro fans rated him very highly. Won't be missed if out of contract.

I watched the reserves a couple of weeks ago against doncaster and bates played in midfield he did look a little overweight and a bit slow however 2 weeks down the line he could be a bit fitter now.
The other option is Parnaby now to me he probably has been the worst signing for pools in a long time and we have had some shite come through the doors but ive got to say he played a CH and looked very comfortable in the position but we were only playing doncaster kids so you would expect him to do what what required of him in the Game.
So looking back 2 weeks and comparing the 2 i would put parnaby in for Mirf if he is injured and just see how the exeter game pans out and go from there with Bates as an option.

If Mirfin isn't fit I'd want an experienced , hard defender. One who was hard as nails, capable of leading the defence by example if not in speed. Someone who cared about the club.
