Has it been decided yet?

How about this, hoping we manage to get out of jail...

Why would people going to a football match wear pyjamas with arrows pointing to their ticklish spots?

the only thing I think could be relevant and get away without it being too cringe worthy is if we all go as priests, vicars, monks etc..

I've read more about fucking fancy dress than actual match.

This is potentially the biggest match in our history and every day I read this question on the Facebook page about what daft clobber people will be wearing. The dress code should be; support Pools. Forget about getting on Twitter on hesculators it needs to be binned for this season. Can you imagine if we get relegated whilst be dressed up like a twat? Can you imagine other clubs laughing at us?

"we got relegated at Charlton and went in fancy dress"
"its tradition and it gets us publicity on Sky"

Well that's great eh, even though were out of the football league and probably wont return

banghead banghead

Spot on P.J. everyone should be wearing our colours, shirts, flags etc etc. and bring with them the loudest voices they can muster.

Other clubs have probably been laughing at us for a long time over the course of this season! If you don't want to dress up don't! If fans wanting to have a laugh and a bit of craic dressing up for the last game of the season winds anyone up as much as it does some people on here then you've got problems.

It could be like going to a funeral in a clowns outfit. Wrong on so many levels.

You've got the spelling wrong but its good that you've identified the role of crack in making the fancy dress thing appealing.

I was thinking maybe jeans, a jumper, pair of shoes, some socks and underwear and a coat just in case it gets cold or rains.

Sorry but I still don't see the problem. Laughing stock, I just don't see why sctatchinghead if anything I think it would show pools fans in an even better light showing we don't take football so seriously.

Don't get me wrong, I am desperate for us to stay up but I just don't see what the problem is if people want to go in fancy dress. I won't be there and if I was, I wouldn't have worn fancy dress but surely the players will want to take as much tension out of the day as possible.

Out of interest, if we do now indeed go down, do we applaud the players being that they have dragged themselves back in contention even if we are now bottling it sctatchinghead

The majority of our players don't take football seriously. At the end of the day the best scenario is we finish 3rd bottom, then we can do it all again next season, marvelous!. Seriously though I will be pleased if we stay up but wont be doing cartwheels, the season we have had to endure. I see your point though about the fancy dress, live and let live.

Joking aside I dont give a toss one way or the other what people wear to the game. Personally I could never wear fancy dress whatever the circumstances, but each to his own.

.

So when one sees you in shorts this is serious attire?

So, to summarise the posts above... "No, the fancy dress decision hasn't been made yet"

To be honest, the only people who can affect the result of the game are the players, we're just bystanders, so might as well have a laugh while we're watching it unfold.

I just hope the players are not over "celebrating" with them if we go down.

I felt physically sick last time.

Chip, exactly what I did for the Newport game, switched off the commentary and went and hid for the remainder of the 2nd half. Couldn't take it no more!!! I did the same watching the Tranmere play off match when Tranmere made it 2-0 on the night to level 2-2 on aggreg. I escaped to the garage and came back in after full time, hoping for extra time, rather than enduring the last 5 mins or so of normal time expecting Tranmere to score! Mind you I was confident that we would win the penalty shootout and watched it without too many problems. As for tomorrow, I may be tempted to get the half time score but I really should hold out till 5pm. I would rather be at the match though watching that way!

Fuck me no. Blacking up?

I don't do fancy dress but I wasn't bothered about other people but a load of racist bollocks like this will just drag the club's name through the dirt.

Surely no face paint will be involved or the club wouldnt be pushing it on the official site. They know it would be a PR disaster im sure?

Imagine it will just be dreadlock wigs and bright shirts etc

When some rarf inevitably niggers up because it's 'a laugh innit', they won't get in the ground and they'll be hit with a huge ground ban - every cloud and all that.

Daft in my book - and I don't think the uptake will be too high either.

Could not agree more. With the current climate of racism in football, this just leads it wide open for attack. Especially if one person has any negative connotation of Rastafarians. I don’t think it’s been thought through at all. I’m all for the idea of colour/noise etc. but really this isn’t the best way to do it

Funnily enough the in no way racist Nigel Farrage was going on about blacking up being fine at the back end of last year. Didn't think anybody remotely sane agreed with him. I'm amazed anyone at the club thinks this is a good idea.

I'm a bit worried about my state of mind.

I'm either having hallucinations or have been unwittingly taking class A drugs as I swear I've just read an article on our official website announcing a Bob Marley fancy dress theme for the Carlisle game. I must stop eating cheese late at night.

Is it April 1st?

Its more embarassment for the club imo as they have posted it.

Im not saying I agree with the outrage 'blacking up' causes tbh but a quick google shows how it is recieved.

Mind a quick google should have told Russ all he needed to know about TMH and we know what happened there.

Well I do think 'blacking up' is offensive and I'm no woolly hearted liberal by any means. I just have a brain and a vague knowledge of history.

I honestly think the club condoning this is the final piss take from Ken and Russ as we get relegated and also highlighted as ignorant backward racists at the same time.

One of the FB comments made me laugh, I will paint my face like I have the last 2 years (when portraying fictional characters)

I think it is seen as offensive because blacking up was used as entertainment for years. Loads of minstrel shows and also comedy that revolved around black people being intrinsically funny because of clumsiness and stupidity. The giant painted on lips and surprised eyes probably didn't help either.

Don't know what the organisers were thinking unless they're bidding to be the new Top Gear presenters. Whatever their thinking is, ignorance isn't any excuse for the club deciding to promote it.

My boyfriend and his friends are all doing this and think it's a really funny idea. If you look on the Facebook site everyone expect one or two are advocating it.
