I used to be a big fan of SLF, really liked their early singles and first album and then stuck with them for a while after that. Not sure I could be arsed to go and see them now though. Is it just a good piss up and a sing song (fair enough)? Or do you think they're still writing decent stuff as well as giving old classics an airing?

I'm not against anybody enjoying whatever bands they like but I don't understand the appeal of going to a big venue to see old favourites that haven't really changed much.

I certainly WON'T be watching "The Stranglers" without Hugh Cornwell, the man that wrote the songs, sang on 9/10ths of them and is still out there performing with The Hugh Cornwell Band doing the songs that he owns! His band has Caroline Campbell on Bass and Robert Williams on drums and I'd recommed these over any "fake" Stranglers doing the rounds. SLF will still be good I would imagine, saw them about 10 years ago and Jake Burns still had the fire in his belly!

I would love to see Hugh back fronting them, but sadly that's never going to happen. You can hardly call The Stranglers fake when 3 of the original 4 are still in the group. The guy who replaced Cornwell has been fronting them for 15 years now ....Baz Warne.

Saw SLF in Newcastle three or four years ago, which was about 30 years since I'd last seen them. They were ok but the impact was blunted by having Penetration supporting who were, and always have been, nothing short of brilliant.

I enjoyed seeing The Fall at Sage Gateshead the other week at the 6 Music thing.

Mark E Smith wandering round the stage like a grumpy old git having a rummage in his bedsit. Brilliant!

They're still writing decent stuff as well. Made no. 1 in the rock album charts with last years new album

Having first seen The Fall live in 1980, he's never really changed then...which is a good thing. He's a National Treasure who, just the odd time, can still cut it today.

Just noticed The Rezillos are supporting The "Stranglers" on this tour, now that WILL be good.

I'd happily go to see The Fall just in case Smith had a good day and Penetration because Pauline Murray is almost the nicest woman in the world. I suppose that just shows that my original point was bollocks or that these things are pretty subjective. I also went to see the baldy Buzzcocks when they first reformed in the 90s and that was an excellent night. Half the Stranglers still doesn't appeal but I should probably have a listen to some recent SLF.

Would certainly still pay a fiver to see Faye Fife - that bill is the wrong way round.

Yes, he makes the odd appearance, but last couple of times I've seen them it's been a guest drummer. He is a lot older than the other members of the group, and was in his forties in the late 70's. He's actually 76 yrs old now, and has a dodgy ticker.

As for the Rezillos, it's over 30 yrs since I last saw them and they are/were very good live.
