Good train booking site

I need to sort out a train ticket for one of my kids and wondered if any of the board's train users could help with some advice. Hartlepool to London and back in mid Feb. What's the best train company or website to use to get a simple ticket that they'll post to her?

agreed with that. The trains arent up to much, and the wifi is shit, but its cheap and regular.

All the sites are drawing tickets from the same place so it depends what is useful to you.

e.g If going on East Coast they discount some of their own tickets on their own site so best to go there.

If you have a Nectar card http://tickets.tpexpress.co.uk/ do nectar points and 1% on quidco

http://www.southernrailway.com/ have a money back guarantee where if you opt to collect from machine and never collect you can have a refund.

Just don't use the trainline, its never the cheapest place to buy a train ticket

All the above plus a student railcard (assuming he/she is still studying) will get you a decent discount.

If you have one it is an extra box to tick on the booking site.

Thanks all, sounds like sort the rail card and then Grand Central - they need posting out because I'll be paying and she's not having my card. I'd be homeless in a week.
