The former Pools striker signs for Conference side Bristol Rovers after being released by Millwall. Strange for a Championship player to drop directly to non-league from such heights but this shows the ambition and determination of Rovers to reclaim their FL status at the first attempt.

Easter will presumably not come cheaply in terms of salary so this should also serve to further highlight to TMH 2014 the potential cost of attempting to regain lost FL status vs. bringing in a few additional loanees at this stage in a belated attempt to ensure that Pools FL position is not lost in the first place.

There are several players dropping to "non league" Danny Kedwell was released by Gillingham last week signed by Eastleigh, Matty Robson is loaned to Gateshead. It would seem that many teams below us can pay bigger wages than league teams-we are struggling to compete but are probably in terms of finances we are more on terms with non league- by the way it is ridiculous to call it non league most teams as strong as L2 and would compete, League 3 ??

I think it's but of myth that most of the teams in the Conference are League Standard or that there's more money kicking about. League clubs get about £750,000 a year more in funding from the TV deal for start. It's true a few clubs with rich benefactors are splashing a bit of cash about that's there's always been that element. Just look at the current table of the two worst teams in the League last year Bristol Rovers are 2nd and have a chance of winning it and Torquay are sat within striking distance of the play offs. It it was a comparative standard to League Two that wouldn't be the case. It's not ridiculous to call it non League as that's what it is, plenty of clubs are still part time for a start.

I think it will be tough and a bit of a culture shock going down but most teams who have, have found a way back up eventually.

Easter's move might not be purely down to money, Bristol is close where he is from and he knows the manager well.

14 goals since 2010. Can't believe we didn't go in for him. He fits our normal striker profile of barely scoring.

I think Rovers are due to move into a new stadium next year and I therefore see the owners/directors investing to make sure they are not playing in their shiney new stadium in the conference.

Sensible investment IMO.
