She lives not that far from me, close to one of the Beckhams place's & near to Baby Spice.
She also sang vocals for Hawkwind on their version of the Stones 'Gimme Shelter' recorded for the charity Shelter - several bands all doing that song.

That is certainly the one Kev.
Other versions of the song by: Voice of the Beehive and Jimmy Somerville, Heaven 17 and Hannah Jones, New Model Army and Tom Jones, Cud and Sandie Shaw, Kingmaker, Thunder, Little Angels, 808 State and Robert Owens, Pop Will Eat Itself vs Gary Clail vs Ranking Roger vs The Mighty Diamonds vs The On U Sound System, Blue Pearl.

Cud a wonderful band faded from semi obsurity into total obscurity.

Ah well it's funny you should mention that 'cos Jon 'Fat' Beast was a mate at the time, he married a good friend of mine, and he was one of the trustees of it. Ergo I got to go to quite a lot of the recordings, press releases, photo shoots etc.

Mind he turned into a bounder later, lives in Scarborough now.

Allegedley the inspiration for Carter USM's Sheriff Fatman. I bet the recordings, photo shoots etc. were fun.

Well I dunno if he was ever a slum landlord or not but I'd have to admit he was well connected. He was Carters lighting tech at the height of their fame and a club DJ. He did some promotions as well and put VotB on with Zodiac Mindwarp for their first gig in the UK. I was at his wedding and it was a star studded event. I was on a tabel with VotB, Clint Boon and Zack out of EMF. Ended up with 26 bodies on my living room floor after a drinking contest with EMF as well.

He just became a rip off merchant in later days but he did get our band some good gigs.

Some intersting folk there, Liked VotB & Clint Boon / Inspiral Carpets. I think Clint is a DJ with XFM North now. He did a really good single after he left IC's - forgotten what it's called now. Zodiac Mindwarp were too hyped up for me. What is the music scene like in China?

Utterly dire. About 19 of the 20 chart entries are ballads. There's a bit of hip-hop about in the clubs/bars and it's creasingly funny watching the Chinese kids trying to be black. Forget rock 'n' roll although I think it's coming gradually, there's the odd guitar artist. I haven't listened to any radio as such but what's on the telly is awful, which could largely be said for England I suppose. Remember I'm out in the sticks though, I dunno whats happening in Beijing. I do see adverts for the big DJ's of ten years ago up there. The Eagles are quite big here.

As I'd imagined (the Chinese music scene). The good thing about the uk & usa is that despite whatever is in the charts there is a thriving market for most other musical genres. Sometimes it needs searching for & is 'underground' but it's still there. The good old internet helps of course. I was always surprised how the Japanese latched onto rock & heavy metal & have become adept at there own styles now - The Boredoms, Melt Banana and the lass out of Deerhoof being my favourites. We go over to Ireland quite a bit & the mainstream music scene is pretty bleak there, however there is an 'alternative' scene that is vibrant.
There's obviously a gap in the Chinese market just waiting for Kev to exploit.

Don't think it hasn't crossed my mind. I live about ten minutes walk from 'music street' where all the instrument shops are, there's five or six, some good some bad. The Arts College is at the bottom of it. Just today we've been around the square where all the PA and amp equipment is and some of it is fantastic and very cheap. Technically it's all there, they just play shite through it all.
