Jihadists on another murder attack on those who had the audacity to mock their so called "peaceful religion". How long before they're rampaging around London?

Don't worry, I have it on good authority that these senseless murders have nothing to do with Islam. A scouser was telling me so.

We desperately need the Muslim community to shout "not in our/my name".

We need them to stand up against their leaders who promote and encourage this.

I love secular societies, I love the different multi culturalism that we can and have existed for centuries (look at the Middle East - it's been Christian/Muslim for many many many years in peace in the past). However this is now going way too far without their own community condeming such actions and being vocal about it. No wonder people have such negative views on Islam.

This makes me sad as I know all this will do is breed more negativity and animosity towards a group of people

How can the leadership not understand that satire is supposed to be close to the wind in terms of being slightly contentious. Yes it's not nice having something you believe in insulted, but if I took offence to everything that offended me, and was that way inclined, I'd be held guilty for genocide!

This is the problem, is that it has been skewed way out of proportion.

I'm pretty sure every time something like this happens they do. The 99.9% of them in the World that are fair minded normal people that is.

When those ISIS beheading's were all over the news I read and witnessed absolute disgust from the wider Islamic community.

99.9%? No chance!

A majority maybe but there are a very significant number who range on a scale from extremist down to 'I understand where they are coming from'. The numbers that agree with their overall aims is enormous.

See, this is why atheist activists like Richard Dawkins are so outspoken. It's not the absurdity of people believing in fairy tales; its the absurdity of people killing over them. It doesn't matter than only one in 100,000 of your fellow christians/muslims/sikhs/animists is a religious nut; it's that somewhere in your scriptures there are words that suggest this might actually be a good idea.
So where are the emergency summits of religious leaders aimed at cleaning their act up?

You are aware that the Islamic population of the World represents a quarter of it's entire population (around 1.57 billion) so my 0.1% that are radicalised nut jobs is almost certainly a massive exaggeration.

Don't hold your breath. M'sieur...

Charlie Hebdo to be fair had run a hell of a lot of Anti-Islamic cartoons depicting Mohammed. I found none of them to be incendiary, or indeed particularly funny... sctatchinghead

I don't accept that. I believe that over half of them want islam to rule the world. After that its just a question of how far up the scale they are prepared to go.

No. Beware those islamic machine guns, suicide bombers and bus bombers. Be especially afraid of the possibility of them getting hold of a biological or chemical weapon.

Well not being funny kind of goes without saying. It is French humour after all.

The Charlie Hebdo staff, if there were any left, would probably want to replace your "anti-islamic" by "anti-islamist".
They've been anti- a few things in their time but the others didn't murder them.

It's a wonder Dave Allen was never murdered seeing as we're all one happy planet.

Indeed. Although that Desproges gadgie was very Dave Allen-esque at times. And both did indeed receive death threats in their day. Mad world.

Problem is it only takes a few of them outraged about people offending their imaginary friend to cause havoc..Especially if they get hold of assault weapons.. Oh and remember if you have the audacity not to believe in their imaginary friend you're a legitimate target....
