in order to turn things around Pools need to make one or two really big signings QUICKLY, even then they could be struggling. The deal is good for kids and families to an extent but its going to be a pricy season for most people, the pressure will be massively on Danny Wilson to get Pools off to a good start...... People can't afford to pay 20 quid when things are going badly....

It isnt good for families. Far from it.

Work the figures out. There is no advantage whatsover for sitting in the family enclosure.

Now if you are trying to attract families, surely someone at the club has got this badly wrong?

I did say families to an extent, for example you can get kids tickets at less than half of the pay on the day price. I think the adult prices are way too high.

I agree with what you say about 20 quid, Pools do not have enough loyal fans to charge this sort of price. Many people will now pick and choose games. Cheltenham on a tuesday night for 20 quid - you're having a giraffe.

Not sure I agree with all this. Certainly for my family there are big savings by getting season tickets.

2 adults @399x2 = 798 Pay on the gate 23 X 20 = 460 x2 = 920

1 Child under 12 = 70 Pay on gate 23X10 = 230

1 child under 16 = 75 Pay on gate 23x10 =230

Cost with tickets = £943

Cost of match by match payments = £1380

I do however aree with all the comments about the extra charges ie for payment with a card, £10 for the interest free payment, £1.50 to post out each ticket etc. These are a bit of a rip off!!

Well I cant afford a season ticket for the first time in 10 years, i'm dismayed at the lack of loyalty shown to season ticket holders, so i'll pick and choose my games, my mate is getting my daughter one on his season tickets so she wont lose out, i'l just pay on the gate!

I got slated for stating that!!!

I'd agree with you there. Though I wouldn't say that claiming that the increase is only £4 is mis-selling or patronising. I'd say it's an outright lie.

Aye, it is a lie, but the implication is that they think we won't see through it ...which also makes it patronising. Either that or whoever's in charge is a bit weak in the logic department (which actually I've suspected before.....whoever it is at the top seems just incapable of working out all the variables for any particular situation)

But I think I have viewed my last game from there. The mob wanted to go in the town end anyway.

What a strange feeling it will be walking past the CK without the impending fear of a Dibbs/ Ed onslaught..

Now you can tell me to f00k off if you want (and most of you have at some point  ) 'cos I won't be paying it BUT, presumably no-ones going to complain about paying 20 quid to watch Pools v Leeds right?? Or Pools v Forest??

BUT someone said if we played Cheltenham on a Tuesday we'd be lucky to get 3000.

Well that's just football snobbery that. If you want to cherry pick your games fair enough. If you want to see 'em all, again fair enough. There are schemes available for both camps, one where you get a credit scheme and all the bits and pieces that a season ticket brings, and one where you pay your twenty quid at the gate. Personally I don't think 20 quid IS too much for a couple of hours entertainment and the increase can be recovered inside the ground 'cos you don't get that much pie and Bovril for 2 quid. Keep your money in your pocket and bring something from home. Seems like the kids prices are cushty as well.

So do what Mr I does and go in as a junior.

Salary mate. No overtime.

Thing is.....................I do my job with my eyes shut at the moment. But its about to change.

I am off to Glasgow, Ipswich, Warrington, Stratford Upon Avon, and god knows where else shortly.

I am now an estimator.

I have to estimate others all over the country................I dont even know my own fookin procedures. rolfl

Still.................it beats working for a living. stpid stpid

There are three of us doing the same job as me........the other two guys are much older.............old school............heads down, quiet all day. They are soooo busy its untrue. Weird thing is.......they have the same amount of contracts as me.

But you are right.............I spend far too long on here. I should pretend to be stressed out at work........like every other fooker seems to do.

Thats why I joined the national estimating team..........just to cure the boredom.

Tell me people.................if YOU are quiet at work do you:

a. Enjoy the quiet period

or

b. make yourself available to do other work?

Me.............I estimate stuff. rolfl rolfl rolfl rolfl

Top estimator now eh??

Oh that they've sold it in a cackhanded and inappropriate way I don't dispute. But if you strip it down and appreciate that you're watching a better version than last season and that we're still on the crest of a wave then is it so surprising?? It was 16 quid, now it's 20 quid. Right?? If we're in the top four at Christmas will anyone care about that?? I think that's the key point. Being seen to get what you paid for.

No matter how many better players we bring in, no matter how high we go in the league...................I cant afford it.

It has nothing to do with value for money.

I just cant afford it now.

I was struggling anyway..............but 410 to 540 ended any doubt for me.

I do understand your point though.

I appreciate that and knowing that you'd climb a mountain to go and take your kids I genuinely feel for you. Maybe it's the price of success, maybe you'll be one of the ones that DOES skip Cheltenham on a Tuesday night which is tragic, 'cos there's three seats in the family enclosure that should have your name on them. And a couple for the kids.

I still reckon if you miss the non essentials out though it'll make no difference that you'll notice. 50p in Greggs or 1.50 in the ground?? Get Mrs Gloves to put a flask up. Are you telling me you don't spend 130 quid a season in the ground?? A fiver a game?? Bet you do!!

Note I haven't decreased the beer spend in the budget!!

Mr Fireball - with the greatest of respect you can fook right off, I struggled for years to afford to get to matches, recently I can, more by good luck than good judgement

It's a futile arguement - thats the price, if you don't want to (as some imply) or can't afford to pay it, there is nothing to be done about it however unfortunate that is

But don't try & label me with this "I'm alright Jack" bullshit I've missed key games 'cos I couldn't afford to go like many others, so as I said you can fook right off

The crazy thing is crowds are up in general in all leagues and Joe public seems willing to pay the cost of watching football, despite Sky and the rest.

I am sure the club will use this argument to defy our logic somewhere along the line and as someone has amazingly said "if you don't like it don't get one"(Iwondered when this would be said).

I did say before the prices were announced it would be a brave chairman to raise the prices by £2 this season and we now know the chairman must have a heart like a lion because using the Cheltenham on a cold Tuesday night argument will test his bravery to the limit.

As for moaning, well yes I am as it seems the only way to avoid any charges and keep our existing seats in the CK stand is to pay in CASH by 5pm on June 29th and then to be told the poolymads an all other ticket holders loyalty is being rewarded and BTW they are charging £1.50 PER TICKET for us to get it sent out.

You see in our house not only is it Pools,Pools and more POOLS and that goes for my eldest daughter and her family too,it's what we do as family always will and it is this loyalty by us and others alike that seems to be taken for granted.

Yes if we pay by cash by the June date we will save money but not everyone will have cash available and in our case it will be £1067 and if we renew our car park space a further £115 of course we All don't have to go but we do because we can, (who is going to tell er-indoors and middle poolymad they can't,you would be braver than our chairman).

The thing is, I do know of long time season ticket holders who are not going to renew and are going to pick and choose games which is a shame to lose fans, never mind loyal fans.

I know for some it is a great deal and for those sitting on the fence wondering to buy one or not after reading arguments on both side.
I would just say do what you think is best for YOU.

We can moan and argue all day on this but for once in my POOLY supporting life I personally feel a tad let down by the club and feel our DIE HARD Support for the club I love has been taken for granted.

The last thing I will say is,OWNERS,MANAGERS AND PLAYERS all one day move on BUT TRUE FANS STAY FOREVER be it with a season ticket book or on a pay as you watch basis. EITHER WAY you decide. clappp

Excellent point that Chip, I noly have 2 more holidays to use at work up until Christmas and as I usually work every other Friday night I might be missing some games then, the mrs wants me to use one of the holidays for her birthday because I am on lates and the other for my birthday cos it is my 30th.

Mr Mad I think that they have issued the £1.50 p&p for the tickets because of the fiasco last season when some people were waiting up to an hour from entering the shop to receiving their ticket.

But you can't say they have replaced the 'early bird discount' with the credit facilities. They are appealing to two completely different parts of the Poolie fanbase. The first was worth doing for people who could stump up the cash in one, or possibly 2 or 3 smaller lumps pre season, to take advantage of the DISCOUNT. The new credit facilities are for others who probably couldn't have done that anyway, but can manage to pay in 10 instalments over the season, and are paying EXTRA for the privilege. I can't see any advantage in paying through the instalment plan, which will probably be bringing you close to the 'pay on the door' prices, especially if you are to miss any matches due to work, illness or holidays. One final point if you do decide to set up with the finance company, get your tickets and later in the season miss a payment, do they come around and repossess your season tickets?
