This is quite funny...you all wanted that Newcastle keeper and so and so.

And I'm so glad we haven't got a Newcastle player on loan because for every success we recieved Newcastle's fans would be claiming it was down to them. clappp

I'd have been happy with Jim as No. 1 so no complaints that we haven't brought a big name in. And who knows this lad might be better.

It's good to see the management taking notice of people in the know. No mention of Danny Wilson here, but enthusiasm from two goalkeepers.

A few reviews from Coventry fans,

http://boards.rivals.net/default.asp?si ... rumId=6571

"dunno none of us ever saw him play as he didn't make one first team appearance

didn't really get good reviews though when he came here..."

"Oh dear. We signed him initially on loan from Weymouth, then on a free transfer until the end of this season. He came in as emergency back-up as we were absolutley desperate when our first choice Andy Marshall was injured, and he deputised for Luke Steele. And believe me, you've got to beshit to deputise for Luke Steele. He didn't get a game in the first team so not many of us will have seen him in action to be honest with you."

"Erm to be honest like Gaz said he wasn't highly rated when he signed for us. However i remember an FA Cup Tie on the BBC a few months ago which was shown live when he played for Weymouth and he looked dodgy as fook"

A quick sniff around (mainly the interview on the Weymouth site) reveals he's been at a few League clubs and even had atrial at Chelsea at one point - never got established though and dropped down to Weymouth. He was on the bench for Coventry after he signed, so presumably he's got something. We're probably best off asking the Weymouth fans for opinions.

I think whether we bring in another keeper may depend on what Provett decides - it might be that the two of them compete for the gloves. Not a cartwheel signing then, but then who'd heard of Dimi?

Good points Alby, the official site also says

""He's got a real presence, commands his
area very well and will certainly enhance
the goalkeeping department at the Club."

clappp

I have seen him play twice this last season when I returned home to Weymouth, the first game was against Aldershot when he looked class and saved everything. The 2nd game was against Cambridge and he dropped a few easyish catches but still commanded his box well.

He let in a lot of goals later in the season but this was after Weymouth had been ripped apart by the chairman and the whole team fell to pieces.

Reviews from Weymouth fans

"ho ho ho. but he's only young, i'm sure a league team will realise his potential, and snap him up."

"It'll be good to have him back here just for the wind up value. "

"I heard ALB turned down a new 1 year contract there. As for him coming here... not even if he was paying the club  "

"Sorry Alex but I heard from a Coventry Fan at work that they thought they were getting quality then when he got there they found out the reality. I had said to this fan at the time what our experience of him had been like but he gave ALB the benefit of the doubt. When I saw him this week he said that my initial report had been spot on. I think the offer of a one year contract may have just been a porkie. According to the fan I spoke to Coventry just wanted to get rid."

For Coventry to sign him he can't have been as bobbins as some are making out.

For some reason, I thought of ex-Pools keeper Roy Tunks at work not long ago. Just sitting looking out the window and he popped into my head, along with Bob Moncur.

Those were the days!

According to Coventry fans they signed him as emergancy cover as they only had one fit keeper at the club.

Aye, but I'd imagine there'll have been loads of other keepers from higher up the divisions available. Unless he was only on minimum wage.
