What is General Darning doing these days, and how does he know PP?

Did PP help out General Darning during the American Civil War?

"He was, however, able to institute his doctrine of field repair and replacement creating the first and only sock darning, knitting, and issuing company in the United States Army trained to operate directly behind the front lines. Secretary Stanton and President Lincoln tried to have the unit disbanded and Smithson cashiered but the Union generals held forth. They ordered the establishment of three more companies as they found them a perfect venue for assigning officers junior who didn’t come up to their expectations or otherwise under performed. The units became a catchall for enlisted men short of court martial and suffered the highest rate of casualties from darning needle punctures then any other unit in both the Confederate and Union forces."

visiting lourdes ( the place, not maddonnas daughter )

I went there a while back when I was driving from Toulouse down to Porto. I was passing and being a good catholic boy with two passengers who were also good catholic boys we decided to pay a visit.

To say that I found it very disappointing is an understatement. Think Blackpool with nuns (steady on Cat) and you're almost there. The final straw was when I seen fag lighters for sale with a picture of the grotto and Mary on the front of it.

The place is so commercialised its untrue. That said the grotto part itself is worth a look for curiosity value.

he did give me a list of productive things he was hoping to do with his time over the summer instead of posting on the bunker. these included :

making a model of the cutty sark from lolly sticks ( this may not take as long as anticipated)

purchasing a goat off e-bay

looking for crabs

testing his own urine for stimulants using a machine he built himself in the shed. if all goes well he hopes to have this in mass production for the 2012 olympics

general darning.

he is gonna be one helluva busy guy.
