Fair play to him, but a guy who has not managed at 1st team level before, with a squad of players that no other side would want to sign any of our players......doomed to failure. Football is ALL about 'spending money' and we don't, Conference here we come ?
WELL DONE IOR & KEN HODCROFT ! :angry-screaming: clappp

He was a small part of the problem. Make no mistake it's IOR that are taking us down.

Soz, I thought I was talking to reasonably intelligent people. If it's on the Official Facebook page then it's probably true. Is that better?

In future I'll assume I'm writing for 5 year olds.

But he has done the right thing and should be given some credit for that.

Let's see how Sam Collins and Russ's son do.

Yeah he took the club as far as he could alright - to the brink of the Conference. But fair play to the guy to readily fall on his sword today, he will never have what it takes but he had to work under intolerable conditions - lets hope that this is only the start of the significant changes that are required to take place if the club is to stand ANY chance of retaining its league status. IMO IOR have also took the club as far as they can and if Hodcroft has any kind of honour he should also back out from HUFC, hopefully by passing on the baton to someone who he can trust with the future of the club, just as Harold Hornsey did with IOR all those years back. Wishful thinking I guess.

I'm about the most laid back person you'll ever meet, not a precious bone in my body the other stuff is not for me to say  But A few weeks ago I tried to stick up for Spender on here because it felt like everything he posted was jumped on by certain people. Since it's as if he tries to wind people up. Like being dismissive on this thread at the same time as most of us were getting phone calls about the news. It's understandable he's out of touch living on the other side of the World but I don't see the need to sneer and be so dismissive of stuff people have genuinely heard. I bet he's a good bloke but he's coming across on here, very different to real life, as a cock.

Yours Lord Twattish.

the people that launched personal attacks on cooper are the same dicks who put people off posting on here, and to a lesser extent, even going to pools. yep, the bloke made mistakes but he was operating in almost intolerable circumstances. he acted with dignity and professionalism and finally made an honourable decision to move on. in my opinion with the right backing, he'll make a decent lower league manager at a well run club.

"fuck off cooper" and that level of posting on here are simply pathetic, and some of the tossers on here need to have a fucking long look at themselves.

I can't help feeling sorry for the bloke. I don't have any antipathy towards him at all. He failed just like the many who preceded him and probably the ones that follow him. Pools are dead, IOR FC might drag on for a little while longer.

Well said Aido the man was doomed from the start. He was trying to swim with both his hand tied behind his back. Well done Ken you've fooked over another decent bloke.

Agree with the most recent posts on here. I am gutted for him and to be honest I really didn't think he'd walk but fair play to him. Obviously I don't know him but from what I've seen of how he conducts himself, he is a top bloke.

I also fear what happens next. We need, I think, an experienced manager who has a proven ability of getting the best from a very small squad of players but I think the cheap option will win the day.

Sadly I think you are right. It's not a sudden death mind you, it's been more like watching a family member with a terminal illness for the past 5 years but hanging on grimly still somehow

Unless IOR change, which I suspect they won't, the next manager will face the same problems.

I'd hazard a guess cooper was promised the world and given nothing to work with, much the same as Hughes was.

A small part of the problem has been removed however the disease remains.

Cooper strikes me as a decent bloke and good luck to him but it was obvious to everyone he was lost without Hignett. A lot of decent managers have operated with limited funds. He signed a few players, it hasn't gone well for him. I wish the guy the best for the future.

To be fair Aido the only person on here who has been abusive is Jonny who is like a broken record.

I don't think he was much cop as a manager, and his record post-Hignett was appalling. But he struck me as a decent bloke who repeatedly got fucked over by a truly odious Chairman.

I saw him Thursday night about half six leaving Pools. He was locking up the club offices, then he took his car out the car park and locked the gates. He's quite often the last one out and the first one in. No doubt the bloke was putting his heart and soul into it but he looked fucking awful. He must have aged 5 year in the last 6 months.

No idea who would take the job on now to be honest, it must be common knowledge within the game that Hodcroft is an impossible man to work for, and will promise them the Earth then fuck them over repeatedly.

Abusive - well I am sorry. The bloke wasn't doing the job. i think we all appreciate that times are tough and that he was trying but the performances in the last 10 months have been mainly poor or complete shite.

Turner, Cooper, Wilson, Wadsworth and Hughes all managed to get positive results working for the same regime and I'm sure loads of out of work managers will want the job. Hopeully the right man will be appointed who has some tactical nous and the ability to sign the right players....

Coopers budget was probably about 1/4 of what turner and Wilson enjoyed.

Hughes also didn't get a full pre season. If he had I suspect he would've done a better job than Cooper. But we'll never know.

He had way better players than cooper like.

A lot of people would have done a better job than Colin Cooper but for the galzinionth time we have a miles wider issue here than won't be resolved by a change of manager. I feel no sense of renewed optimism off the back of today's events, in fact I think things have just got a whole lot worse.

Among those "not great" players.. Monkhouse. Monkey was a great servant to the club. I would have Monky as the first player on the team sheet right now. He released him. Yes he's kicking on but we have no one else in the team with any bottle, apart from Tommy Miller.
