Article 671 (S-ii) states that in order for a protest to be officially recognised it must be submitted to the pre-protest investigative committee prior to being ratified for general discussion at conference (brothers). Should the composite motion be passed it will then go forward to the general congress who will vote on it. That vote is not binding until further ratified by the national executive. Once NE Ratification is achieved the local convener can organise the protest.

Has all this been done?

(incidentally thats basically how the completely irrelevant TUC works)

It's a big game no distractions.

The talk and subsequent action by a few at least got people taking last week and raised some awareness that people aren't happy. Even a couple of articles appeared in the press, namely the Joe Allon one in the Sunday Sun. So as much as people tried to belittle and mock those that did a bit it did achieve something. Let's hope the team give us something to get behind on Saturday, I won't be holding my breath though!

No, simply because I have no immediate access to the relevant committee. Can you point me in their direction ? Does this committee actually exist or are they a figment of your imagination ????

No, not all of it............which prompted me to ask the question rather than trawl through every post. However if you point me towards this relevant committee to which you refer, I will study their deliberations.

We need a password only sub forum on the Bunker to discuss possible idea's about who is going to be part of the team that appoints the chairman of the pre-protest committee. In order to gain the password you have to walk out at 19:08 on Saturday and collect it from a Steward named Stewart.

I think people are bothered but are at a loss as to what to do. It is a cloud of inevitability that is hanging over the fans at the moment. Even the so called rose tinted brigade are slowly resigning themselves to this air of inevitability.
I wish I had the answer but I haven't, or the money to buy the club but I haven't.
We are staring into the abyss and there appears we can't do anything about it.
I started the thread in the hope that someone had come up with some clever idea to at least make the owners think a bit more, maybe communicate more, maybe show willing to allay our fears but all we get is the roar of silence. sadx

I believe the detractors to any protest won the day.

Praise be to the detractors.

I await their proposals for a protest with interest.

Not that I will be there like. Got too much golf to watch.

A good protest grows overtime.. Those who walked out last week at 19:08 should do it again and again until it works.. Otherwise the apologists gave won .. again

If so, it was a system that didn't manage to stifle Bob Crow, did it?

If people want to get anywhere here, they need to think things out. That involves finding out each other's opinions on what will work and what won't. That in turn involves getting together and talking, whether that's called a committee or not.

Some have already tried going behind the stand for 10 minutes and then berating anyone who didn't join in. Instead of saying, 'well, that didn't work, what will?' people have resorted to abusing fellow fans. Sometimes I think I understand why Ken doesn't engage.

I'm up for that! Anyone else? Mutters? Chip? Elvis?

If we make it a regular thing over time more people might join in, come the last home game of the season we might have as many as 50 of us behind the Mill House. That'll give IOR something to think about when we're playing in the Conference next season!

Seriously though offshorepoolie, too many people don't want to be seen to be too radical by actually showing their disapproval at what is happening, but these same people will be moaning just as loudly as the rest of us when the inevitable happens and they will be complaining that we, as fans, should have done something earlier.

Can I buy a pint this time though?

That's exactly the sort of thing you don't know and shouldn't be assuming.
Many have listened to Ken over the years and realised that this is exactly the sort of attempted leverage he doesn't respond to.

You could try asking people what they think and whether they have better ideas for a plan of action that might work.

It's not an assumption Grabec, one lad I know actually said to me after the game " Well I wasn't gonna walk out and have people think I'm a fucking idiot". As for other people who moaned but didn't join in, I think this lads attitude goes for the majority of them as well. My opinion.

I mentioned on another thread that nearly everyone I have spoken to about this to a man is unhappy with what is happening to our club, yet none of them bothered their arses joining in the protest last week, it was mainly lads off here that did.

I also think you'll find that the question WAS asked last week regarding what people think and what ideas they had, the walkout seemed to fit with a good few on here so that was the one we went with.

Oh, and I don't really care what Hodcroft does or doesn't respond to, I'm going to make my feelings known one way or another!

"Oh, and I don't really care what Hodcroft does or doesn't respond to"

Well, that just undermines your whole argument, then, doesn't it? There are people who are very concerned about the Club going down the nick, but they are concerned to find a means to prevent this happening, not just to 'make their feelings known'.

You're responding with your heart, not your head. Anyway, go ahead and do it if you want. You don't need anyone's permission. Just stop moaning that other people think it won't help.

And you were making assumptions. The lad you spoke to who 'didn't want to look like an idiot' didn't necessarily represent the majority at all. And the reason he didn't take part on the protest might have been that he thought it wouldn't work rather than that he didn't want to be seen to be 'radical'. You need to think outside of the box a bit.

I don't know how you work this out. This protest wasn't just aimed solely at Hodcroft, it was also directed towards the owners and Larsen. Also, who is assuming now? How do you know these people you mention are"concerned to find a means to prevent this happening".

You're responding with your heart, not your head. Anyway, go ahead and do it if you want. You don't need anyone's permission. Just stop moaning that other people think it won't help.
Yep, but I am responding and wanting to do something about it now and not when it's too late! And no, I won't stop moaning or getting on at these people, it might be the only way to get other people to join in.

Howay man - demonstrating 19 minutes into a game by going behind the stands is never going to be taken up by the vast majority of fans.

At 19.08 last Saturday I saw FOUR gadgies leave the Millhouse standing towards the Town End and nobody at all towards the Rink End. Can't be certain one of them wasn't just off for a piss!

Unhappy fans vent their frustration with the board and management towards the end of a match where the team is getting beat - the Barcodes at Stoke on Monday night being a case in point. Get an IOR Spend or Go chant started then if you want - I'll join in and so will plenty of others. No way am I undermining my own team near the start of a game.

I was one of the four MDKMF, there was probably over twenty of us behind the stand. I agree with you, the vast majority of fans won't take up with the rest of us, but I don't want to be seen to be doing nothing.

Did you read the posts on ITB, describing how people felt put off by being got at in this way? Do you know of anyone at all who was swayed by being 'got at'?[/color]

It isn't an assumption to say that one man's opinion doesn't necessarily represent the majority. It is simply a fact.

But as I said, go and stand behind the CK if you want to.

Being "got at"! Jesus H Christ, that makes it seem that we are using some sort of bully boy tactics on poor defenceless old men. We're not, it's totally up to the individual.
I'm yet to see anyone else stick their head above the parapet and come up with any better suggestions though.

Mill House, by the way.

Mutley, we know, man. I've been saying all this, or something similar, for several years, when certain people were criticising me for speaking out against the Club.

It doesn't mean I have to agree that going behind the stands will stop the rot.

OK I have a possible idea. It's not brilliant, but nevertheless I don't see why I should share it with the Club and destroy the surprise element. Could there be somewhere on here where we could discuss it without outsiders seeing?

I think you will find some people were wanting to meet last week but the response from most was underwhelming. PM people with a time and a place and have a face to face meeting if you're that serious about it.

And I do apologise for not being persuasive enough for your liking, being able to put forward an eloquent and constructive argument is not something I excel in. I'll leave that to you from now on.

OK I have a possible idea. It's not brilliant, but nevertheless I don't see why I should share it with the Club and destroy the surprise element. Could there be somewhere on here where we could discuss it without outsiders seeing?

You are going to do an Erica Roe arent you?

Hope it's not tomorrow. I'm missing the game.

Blackpool fans giving it a good go here! A fair few leaving the ground on 53 minutes.

Bad timing though as Blackpool are playing well the game has become secondary.
