How was today's protest going to help anything? 'Spend or Go' was the supposed message wasn't it? How can any of the Luke James money be spent before January when the transfer window is closed?

I agree - the striker situation needs sorting. We can't just rely on Wyke, there must be someone about that can offer us something. Even someone like James Poole for a month or two...

We're fucked if people think the James deal wasn't done at least 2 days before the window shut.

Poor turnout behind the Millhouse stand it must be said. Aswell as myself and Bandage Senior, I recognised Mr Fireball,ECG,Mutley and Poolie Jon V.
But, from little acorns and all that...

I am in agreement with you that things need to change but as we have been told time and time again there is little money. I would love to see the books and just see how skint we are.

As for idiots, I think the few that went behind the stand today looked the idiots, including the bloke who ripped in to the two lads who held up the ior out banner after the first few games and then walked out protesting today. stpid

I have supported pools for over twenty years, had a season ticket for 15, go to regular away games but because I refused to look at the back of the stand for 10 minutes I am not a proper poolie. How about just not bothering to say anymore on the subject tomorrow either?

Got to start somewhere, not been the best organisation, but its something that can only grow I reckon. Just cos the majority dont join in doesnt say it is wrong. What is right is right and so it will be proved.

So If I head to Hartlepool for the Sheff Utd League trophy game - does that mean I'm not a poolie anymore as a few on here have said that we should boycott the game?

well as it's the only game I can realistically get to this side of Christmas, then boycott or not, I'll be going.

Not surprising to hear the apathy. Typical really, head in the sand till it's too late. Fucking chronic.

And the people saying fans "didn't know" etc.. at the end of the day it speaks volumes that people didn't know of any protest because they weren't looking for a protest.. IOR are paying the bills etc etc.

As I've said on facebook recently, it won't be nice, but it will certainly be convenient for me to go to North Ferriby next year to watch Pools. I'm not sure how many of these IOR apologists in the ground today will be making the trip.

I can't help thinking that going behind the stand was doomed. A protest has to be visual and even a single tennis ball would have been noticed. Had there have been 50-60 then it would have caused a stir. 50 blokes leaving their seats for five minutes is likely to have been a non event.

As for health and safety / prosecutions etc. do me a favour, the publicity would have made Pools an even bigger laughing stock had the tried it. You really think the CPS would waste their time on a load of blokes throwing soft tennis balls?

I believe the biggest protest yesterday was people voted with their feet, no way was there 2,900 pools fans the place looked empty for were I was.

if the protest was a sponsored silence it worked its embarrassing at times how quite the fans are, saying that what is there to shout about.

Were you making loads of noise throughout? It wasn't until the last ten minutes we started to play anything like a home team.

Why do people question the attendance figure!? It looked about right to me, a bit down on previous Saturday games terms of home support but not massively.

Less than 2900 homes suggests to me a protest is well under way.

And onmy 5 goals scored all season suggests this get bigger.

Btw the golf was superb.

Btw never seem the town end look so sparse for a league game in years.

Something was tried by people with good intentions. At a conservative estimate 5-600 people will have been aware it was taking place and maybe 40 or 50 went along with it. However you look at it that suggests the overwhelming majority either support the way IOR are running the club, or they don't think IOR are doing a good job but are not prepared to miss 10 minutes of a crap game to protest about it. Of the 30 or so people I talked to about it in person who went to the game I reckon none of them went behind the stands.

From a personal point of view I'm disappointed but I accept that the majority who were there and knew about the protest weren't interested.

Funnily enough I suspect if Portsmouth had gone 1-0 up in the first 19 minutes a lot
more would have supported it.

5-6000 so how many of the 2800-2900 Poolies there knew about it. Maybe couple hundred at a guess. There lies the problem. It needs to get out there to THOSE that go. When more than a minority know something happening then the better chance it has of succeding. As I said this board is a minority of a minority and it couldnt even agree amongst itselves and ITB. Until that happens then it will continually flop like yesterday. And I agreed in principal.

one 0 to many by me.

Tested the water, you really believe that. I reckon less than 100 people would have took part. Now you said and I quote

"If people want to go to the pub and hold meetings and come up with plans then that's fine . I'm sure Fet Bob would want an elected committee and rules drawn up and a voting system devised, and by the time he was good to go we would be in Conference North".

Which in my opinion was an attempt to point score over my opinion of holding meetings and getting more involved, and the fact that yesterday was such a flop ( you can call it testing the water) shows my lets go a little slower was probably more the right course to take.

Even the person who suggested the walk out was the right way (and not the tennis balls) has said

"I think with hindsight that it should have been carried over until people could have proper discussion about it. It was too quick. This is why I'm advocating the idea of a meeting..we have plenty of Home Games approaching."

Maybe he can join me on the terraces of those Conference North clubs. I'll say it wasn't in hindsight with me though.

But I'm not in the clique and considered a clubman so people will attempt to point score any post I put up , rather than simply read it before disagreeing, they see my name and they automatically disagree.

Remember this board is a minority of a minority, and not the bees knees and when people realise that and work TOGETHER AS POOLS FANS the better the situation will be.

So Bob, when are other Poolies going to wake up and realise something needs to be done and start working together? Truth is, I don't think they will.

I simply don't get it! Everyone I speak to is saying the same thing to a man; They are worried about IOR's lack of interest in the club and how depressing it is watching Pools now, yet obviously none of them are prepared to try and change what is happening. They all stayed in their places yesterday and moaned like fuck about how shite things are now. As Muttley said, they are just sleepwalking into the conference!

Yesterday was a chance for people to show their disapproval to IOR, it didn't happen how we wanted but it is just the start.

The current situation the club is in now hasnt just happened over the last few weeks, it's been a gradual decline for two or three seasons now. The way I see it, the sooner we ALL try to voice our concerns to the owners the better, burying heads in the sand is not the way to go. We need to start before it's too late!

Aye that's right Bob, lets a dozen of us go to the pub once a week for a month and sit around talking fucking shite and then have a vote.

We have taken 2 points from the last 4 games, scoring one and conceding 7. The last 23 games we have won 4 drawn 4 and lost 15. The last 100 games we have won about 23 or 24. But yeah there's no fucking rush to do anything, it's early days.

The bottom line is that you wouldn't take part yesterday because you wanted to go to the pub and blather on about people not buying fucking hot dogs, and because you couldn't get your own way you said fuck it I'm not doing it.

I wasn't mad keen on the idea of hoying tennis balls onto the pitch, but if that was what the majority wanted to do I would have done it, because the alternative is to sit around doing fuck all.

We are already in a situation where next weeks game feels like a must- win one, because teams we have a chance of finishing about like Exeter and Accrington are already putting some distance between us and them. Anyone who thinks Pools are suddenly going to fly up the table without investment in the playing squad wants to take a look at the stats over our last 12-20-50-100 games. Our record away from home in particular is absolutely fucking awful. I've seen nothing that suggests this current squad will muster much more than 50 points this season, yet most people seem to think everything is okay or that protesting is pointless.

Chip where the F have I said once a week , once a month. Stop putting words into other mouths, and discuss it rationally.

What can I do to stop the losing run/not scoring goals. F all Did you walking out yesterday result in a win NO it f didn't. So I do nothing we don't win/score you do something same outcome.

I'm sure the point of yesterdays "protest" was against IOR not the team. so why bring the poor results up.

What can about 50 people on here do....my point is NOTHING...What can Pools fans UNITED do a lot more. Why is that so hard to see.

This as I keep saying is a minority, I haven't said trying to get more fans together will be anymore successful than yesterdays "protest/flop" but obviously just you thinking that this board alone will change things didn't take off well. And IMHO will never. There even a bunker/ITB clique, so even the boards are miles apart.

No one will take over as such, you've declined the offer(your right of course) as have others(their right) but until we're all singing from the same sheet, then like yesterday anything will be futile.

I agree investment is needed in the squad, until some people get off their "lets do it the bunker" way or no way at all attitude then nothing will succed. Even a UNITED front by supporters won't guarantee investment but at least it will show the owners that the fans are all together and there is no me and you attitude within the fans. My view differs from yours to a point, we are on the same wavelength it just how we go about it that the problem and until we can solve that then we'll stay apart with what we consider to be best as a whole.

I agree that some fans will stay quiet /do nothing. But by at least trying to involve them then those who want to change things may. Yesterdays protest was never mentioned in the local paper(s). (I apologise if was, I don't buy it)

So how do you intend to get more involved it has to be put more into the public eye ? I'm waiting for how we'll do that if not by press and certainly not by this board alone. I'm worried about lack of investment, but 99% of Pools fans now expect CHEAP season tickets and as long as they get them then they're happy.

You used the word ALL to voice our concerns, I'll happily bet anything that yesterdays "protest" involved only people who use this board. No one has yet come up with a way to get others involved, yes word of mouth is good but more is needed, IMO.

Why aren't they Poolies. They disagree with a protest and arent Poolies? Surely thats not right.

The "bunker way" was my way of putting it that the idea was born on this board, and people who didn't take part are being called a lesser fan for not taking part. Explain why because I didn't take part yesterday, I'm less of a POOLIE than you for taking part.

If you're serious about this, why not start a kickstarter appeal and buy IOR out?

Or just keep bitching at each other.

I dont believe for one moment Mutley was really questioning any Poolies loyalties! Its simply frustration coming out caused by the mess the club is in and like others on here its starting to cause a few to lash out at each other rather than sticking together and taken the fight to Hodcroft sctatchinghead We have been here many times in the past and always stuck together and pushed the Jokers out of our club. :-D

I won't say feck all until tomorrow....cos Poolies have proved today that they aren't Poolies....some would rather Hartlepool United be non-league but 'stable'....too late idiots!!!!

So what does this mean then?

I don't think it's right for people to be getting at each other and causing rifts. We desperately need to pick up the points against Carlisle and focus our passions on getting behind the team vocally. The teams in this division are poor and even with the restricted budget we should be able to compete, rather than complain about a poor atmosphere lets get behind the team....

I agree totally Jonny but it's hard to be happy clappy about a team who don't give us any excitement at all isn't that two consecutive home games without a shot on target? It's a two way thing. Even the lads who normally try in the Town End didn't bother much yesterday, I think I heard them once singing Tommy Millers name after he deservedly got man of the match.

PJ - It's down to us all - whether we are in the mill house, town end or wherever. We're up against it at the moment so it's about time we started getting in the oppositions faces and getting behind the team. There's a few reasons why the town end is even quieter this season.

On team strengthening - maybe some out of contract players can be brought in? Maybe the Scandonavian links can be used. There must be players out there that can come in and improve us.....

Bollocks is it down to us, if you think we can make this team better by making a bit more noise than you are more bonkers than suspected
