Right....Protest This Saturday....Protest No.1!!!!

Renamed in memory of John Hawksworth, a stalwart member who passed this day 2nd August 2020. RIP Mr Monkeybutt.

Sadly we must add the name of Kevin Minton, Aka Mr Ripper who passed 30/6/22. Kev was also Mr politically incorrect but a nicer lad you could never meet.

Not quite what I was saying was it?

Not the argument I envisioned having when I'm sat at work!

There's bigger things to be thinking about at the minute, most importantly the future of pools. We've all been going since we were knee high to a grasshopper and want to do something.

You think someone at the club had had a word with one of the boards and tried to get them onside, to deflect from the other.

No they couldnt do that, could they.

I mean, its not like many were reeled in by that one post the club posted a while ago, and then people applauding them for their new found communication skills.

Lets face it, as a collective, we are not the brightest are we?

The problem is that even for a "small band of fans" and I'm putting both boards together in that category, is there are to many suggestions of what to do. We've had downright stupid ideas to decent(OK) ideas to very good ideas. But the fact is that everyone who reads the boards will have their own idea on which category each idea comes into, and there lies the problem.

I've already stated why I wouldn't take part in anything that could be classed as "illegal", my choice but there it is.

Now I can see the pro's and con's of the "walkout" to behind the respective stands. But how many will take part ? The problem is you would need a large part of the 3000 Pools fans that will be there to do it for it to be noticed. And as I've said at this moment in time we're talking of a couple hundred people who read the boards and opinion is split over whether it's a good idea or not.

We need something that "everyone" will unite behind. Life is full of differing opinions and I'm sure Mutley meant peacefully when he posted

I'll take it up with them when I see them!!!!... Simply because someone whether on another board or not disagrees with an idea doesn't make that idea right or wrong.

Problem is that unless whatever is decided , and the board(s) are not the place to decide it really( as I've said small minority of fans post on it or read it then anything that falls flat on it's face will be counter productive. Now I've said I'm in agreement but

(1) Why does it have to be this week ?
(2) Why does it have to be an idea that comes from either board(s), maybe facebook/even someone who doesn't use social sites may have better idea
(3) Can we not organise some sort of meeting, I'm sure Nobby will be grateful of the custom one night

Now I'm sure I'll get "club man" thrown at me but If I don't agree with something I'm not going along with it simply because some on here think it's the way forward.

Yes a protest is a right but it has to be something that the vast majority of fans will go along with.

The ground has the banners on the Mill House side...

Pools is my religion, Victoria Park my Church
Once a Poolie always a Poolie

Maybe it's time that KH/IOR just looked at them and saw just what they're saying because they're all right for us Pools fans and we'll fight for our club, but we have to be UNITED , not just in name but as fans.

Bob, I wont be there as I will be hiding behind the sofa, but..........................

If everyone followed your logic, nothing would ever get sorted.

It may end up being a small protest, but most protests start small.

They tend to grow over time.

If Pools continue to lose then it will grow.

If they win, which we all hope they do, then it will be slow.

Trying to organise the ultimate event will mean it will never happen, and IOR will have won.

It was a pretty stupid post that one on ITB.

He also mentioned that pools have a saftey certificate for 7000, implying that all 7000 would all go behind one stand.

clappp clappp clappp Bang on BOB

I think a more methodical approach is required and as you say maybe a meeting of some sort. I posted earlier in the week that maybe a "petition or register" style form in the Mill, Corner Flag, Bar 1908, Bowling Club, engineers and Raglan, get names contact email or text number, and maybe some ideas. Have a meeting in the mill or corner flag with a few one night during the week and maybe try a peaceful protest at the Carlisle game. There will be a bigger crowd I'm sure and it will be noticed more. More detailed planning needs to be addressed and one form of action. For the meeting during the week members of ITB will be able to attend. lets face it the Cralisle game could see us propping the whole division up, or breaking the trap door ready to fall!!!!

So how many have joined your protest of not going to the match. Not many ..why ? because not many know you were doing it.

I agree with you but we need to get whatever is decided out amongst the wider Pools fans. Now it OK saying well it be heard in the Mill/Flag/Pearl bar etc on Saturday. But there many others who go straight to the ground, park wherever and simply go to the game.

Has anyone thought of letting mail know ?

I'm not on about the ultimate event I'm on about more than a couple hundred people seeing an idea. Now it will take time to grow but will a walk out even be noticed, Remember the mail photographer will be in attendance so if pictures can be got then there's some free publicity. Is it worth those who are walking out from say the Mill House terrace side being in close proximity so they leave from the same area, I understand that can't be done in the seats but if for example the walk out was from the middle/half way one end etc would it not be more noticeable, Just throwing things into the pot the same as a lot of people, I'm not against the idea as such, and hence the question does it have to be this week. Nothing more than thoughts/questions

This is our first statement of intent towards the owners for there continuous lack of investment and obvious disregard for the feelings of there supporters, its a peaceful opening action which will be the first of many if things dont look like changing, after this then organise a meeting at the mill for everyone to get together and set out a plan of action.
Come on everybody what have we got to loose??? .....nothing at all so lets all stop deliberating and just do it!

From reading the various threads on this with interest it seems there's an irreparable rift between ITB and the bunker. Funny how in the Gibson days the internet wasn't an issue, people couldn't argue with a keyboard and the fans seemed to stick together in protest.

Seems the only thing to do in that respect is what's happened in the past, good old fashioned chants/stay behind after the game.

Mutley we've known each other to long to fall out. But decided by who ?? Like I've said a minority of a minority message board like the idea.

Block B was going to do his own thing and walk out and go to the mill why isn't that the planned action, surely better than 10 minutes behind the stand(s) ADG do you honestly believe that anyone in the club has phoned god knows who and said put a stop to this. the original idea of tennis balls has even been discouraged by the person who came up with it, and he denies being contacted by the club.

The problem is the net .Years ago you'd have probably climbed on to the rink end with Parmo and unfurled a bed sheet. We protested in the old days without "planning" it. As someone said chants around the ground , they weren't planed for certain times of the game they just went up.

I'm for a protest but f**k me why is something being attempted to be forced on people. Lets see how it goes. ADG can go on about the club getting at people but he WONT EVEN BE THERE. So why is he so up for it . Turn the golf off and get to the Vic and after 19:08 walk to back of stand with others. Or walk home and turn the golf back on.

My opinion nothing more is this will be done by less than 50 people around the ground. I hope I'm wrong but there you go.

Years ago 50 people outside the ground chanting for change was seen as a lot, 50 people walking behind the stand(s) won't be noticed. And what will happen at half time 40 of those 50 will then give Pools £4-£5 for a pint and a beer. Logical. NOT. I suggest nothing and I mean nothing is bought in the ground. If those doing the behind the stand agree not to spend money then I'll walk out for 10 minutes.

Feel free to put your name(s) on here for both actions..... NO beer nothing......

If people want to go to the pub and hold meetings and come up with plans then that's fine . I'm sure Fet Bob would want an elected committee and rules drawn up and a voting system devised, and by the time he was good to go we would be in Conference North.

This Saturday I will be walking out of the Millhouse Seats at 19:08 on the clock. Whether five people do it or 500 it's a fucking start. I miss 10 minutes of the game, I will live with it. If the space behind the Town End isn't big enough go and stand either side of it. It's not so much about where you go as the fact you are seen to be vacating your usual spot.

If people think doing this will have a negative effect on the players they are crazy in the coconuts. I'm sure the majority of them are as pissed off as the rest of us with what's happening.

I couldn't give a rats arse about message board rivalry. Let's just fucking do this starting Saturday.

Don't be fucking silly Chip your better than that. Point is why should a message board minority decide what happens that my point there's 3000 season ticket holders how many use this board on a regular basis ? There people on here having a go at others simply because their opinion is different. I've said I think some sort of protest is warranted, at moment no one has come up with a good enough idea in my opinion.Nearly 4 hours ago I asked for names for a beer/ spending money in the ground boycott, and no one put their name forward yet.

So the protest doesn't involve going without a beer in the ground, I wonder why ???

How many of those who walk behind their respective stands will be in the Lounge/Centenary lounge before/ after game , how many will get pie/burger/programme.

Thats my point. So come on who'll go behind stand and STILL GET BEER At half time.

Bob, I don't give a fuck how many replies there have been, I don't give a fuck if people think I'm an idiot, I even don't give a fuck if I don't get a couple of pints at half time.

I am doing this because I think it's about time we are seen to be doing something to make our feelings known to the owners. If other people are happy with the current state of affairs and don't follow suit then fair enough, that's their prerogative, I won't lose any sleep over them.

See you round the back on Saturday Chip.

Well the Bunker appears to be on it's own. I've been debating on the Pools Facebook fan page with somebody who is clearly happy with his lot in life as a Pools fan.

Seriously Bob, What the hell are you on about?

Are you actually trying to court the opinion of all 3000 fans before you act?

Mad as a box of frogs.

Honestly man, what with all of this talk about the dangers of throwing tennis balls.....health and safety and all that........and the dangers of 7000 fans going behind the town end at once...........the world has gone fucking bonkers.

And I am convinced someone at pools is behind the scuppering.

Just a suggestion, and feel free to pour the usual cascade of shite on it, but by not spending owt in the ground, might not that play into the owners hands? "Well, matchday revenue is poor so we have less to spend.'

That was a rent dispute involving an outside company who took all the matchday revenue in a partnership with their local council. We have no such issue with the rent that we pay. The Football League sorted that as arbitrators, but as usual, the supporters got stiffed until it got sorted out.

The fans wouldn't go to Northampton but still went to away games.

Maybe that is worth thinking about.

The walk out is a great idea, word is spreading, you don't need to complicate it like Bob is. It's simple and can hopefully be effective.

Good luck lads
