Cardiff are also interested so may make a late bid.

Stuart Nelson is one of the worst keepers I have EVER seen. I've no idea how he has lasted as a pro this long!

Rumours were circulating that Steve Phillips would be brought in to replace Dimi, if he went. After the stuff he said about Wilson being the best manager he has ever worked with recently could maek this a viable option.

Well we did make him into the keeper he is now. No loyalty these days but I suppose we've benefited from the Bosman somewhere down the line confised

Phillips would be a great replacement for Dimi, the Rovers fans we were talking to at their place in December were also ranting about him. If these rumours are true then we should really be hoping for Bristol Rovers to stay in L2 as otherwise I can't see him moving 350+ miles to sign for a team in the same division just because he likes Wilson.

Steve Phillips has jus signed a new 2 year contract with Bristol Rovers, from what i hear Wilson is looking at David Martin from Liverpool on loan at Accrington last season !!

Steve Jones is the worst keeper I have ever seen, how he ever produced that performance against Palace I will never know

Steve Jones only really made one save against Palace, it was a good one though.

Steve Phillips would be a great choice to replace Dimitrious....

Martin got rave reviews during his time at Accy. And he had a great game at our place, including a Gordon Banks type save. He is Alvin Martin's son.

Pity about Phillips if this is true.

Timmy - Did you go to all of the Brentford away games over the last few years? He was schite!!! Don't touch him with a barge pole.

You would've thought Brentford had won the league the way that he and John Salako celebrated.

Nelson is not far behind Billy Turley in the list of hated keepers for me.

It was the FA Cup game wasn't it when Nelson was being a total cock? We played as well as i've ever seen in the second half of the night match to win 3-1, Joel had his best game for Pools (actually one of the best performances i've ever seen from a Pools player.)

Nelson is little prick, and hes shyte. Phillips yes please, he went up in my estimation after the last game of the season as well, applauding the Town End. A good winner, unlike Nelson.

I've seen that Krul play a game on TV for Newcastle in the UEFA Cup though, he looked VERY good for an 18 year at the time.

I don't think we need anyone. We have Jim Provett who certainly deserves a run in the team after the patience and loyalty he's shown over the past couple of years. Also he has had a lot more coaching and working with Dimi will have taught him how to better control his area. As a shot stopper he leaves Dimi for dead.

We have released Tony Davidson which, if Dimi goes, leaves us with ONE keeper.

I think we may just need another one. And one who will give a serious challenge to Provett or vice versa

It certainly is, he signed it an extension a couple of days before they played us, agreed it is a shame like, top goalie!! David Martin could be a very good prospect though

Jim Provett is a good keeper no doubt about it, but he isn't tall enough. Even the couple of Mcikey Mouse cup games he played this season highlighted that, one goal he conceded against Rotherham was a header from six yards where he styed rooted to his line. You just don't concede goals like that with a more commanding keeper in nets.

I'm far from convinced Provett is the answer and think he'd be a serious step back from having Dimi there for the last few seasons. He's a more than able deputy but some of his performances prior to him being dropped shouldn't be forgotten

Let's not forget Dimi's faults:Going walkies outside the area for no apparent reason, staying rooted to his line at corners and free-kicks, when he retains the ball from the opposition he takes an age to distribute the ball.

Like Mr I said give Jim Provett a chance, even if he's only 4 foot 4"

I think thats quite harsh on Dimi, especially the 2nd and 3rd faults. Dimi has kept 25 clean sheets this season and has done more than his fair share of the promotion challenge. His penalty saves in the last few games were a huge factor for us pushing Walsall to the rest last kick of the season too

Staying rooted to his line? We have never had a keeper who comes out and takes as many corners/crosses/free kicks. I'd be interested to see how many goals we have conceded from set pieces this season, I bet it isn't many.

Jimbob...nah. are we forgetting he's had plenty of chances in the past and never impressed me, never commands his box and it's not just a size thing. He may be a good raction shot stopper but that's about it ... new keeper please.

Oh right aye I remember now, but in the cup replay as well he went OTT goading the Town End when they scored and at full time.

Now he's been released, so we win!

Big-name target May 17 2007

by Andy Turner

COVENTRY CITY are poised to make their first close-season signing.

The Sky Blues are believed to be close to agreeing terms with Hartlepool United's Greek goalkeeper Demitrios Konstantopoulos.

And the deal could be completed as early as tomorrow (Friday).

City have been looking for a keeper to compete for the No.1 jersey with Player Of The Year Andy Marshall.

And Konstantopoulos - out of contract after helping the Monkey Hangers win promotion to League One - seems an ideal candidate.

The 28-year-old has chalked up 139 appearances since moving to Victoria Park on a free transfer from Portuguese club Farense in October 2003.

'believed to be.....' 'Could be completed.........'

Hardly cutting edge journalism that seeing as this rumour's been around since last June.

Ask Cornelius or Spin, this is just called 're-heating' a story I believe.

Sack of bollocks.

What makes me laugh about this move (if true) is he will have to compete for the No1 spot from their player of year keeper,so he can't be all that bad.

Apart from a big wage move cannot see the point of wanting to play second violin.

Also does that mean we will get jack shit for him as he is out of contract. refred
